A [ roll in neutral ] would be an explanation for only one direction. What I suspect is really going on is a worn transmission that slips out of neutral into the last used gear.
Could be fatigue. I hear working outdoors in 105 degree heat can be hard. Personally, I wouldn't know because that's peasant work. /s
It could also be ADHD. People with ADHD have attention spans that's sometimes shorter than your average goldfish. ADHD exists in the gene pool, apparently because there's a survival advantage to gathering food as someone who gets easily distracted or forgetful.
Not FedEx but some other delivery company came to my house with a box and the guy literally threw it the last 10 feet onto my doorstep. It made a hell of a crash sound and had there been anything not made of metal inside it would have been destroyed. It was a stainless steel bodem and it was undamaged.
I just don't understand how someone leaves a vehicle that's running and it's not secured in PARK, or the parking brake applied. It should be autonomic and feel like something is really wrong if you don't do it.
Fuck man. Can't remember what but some clustershit like that also happened to me once or twice. NGL mindfulness meditation helps from being so distracted.
I forgot to put my car in park once, luckily I was close to the building so it didn't do any damage to the car and only cracked a bit of siding on the garage luckily, but I'll never make that mistake again
Sleep drunk. Sleep exhaustion is a DANGEROUS motherfucker. I drop a lot of stuff. Get brain cloud. Time skip as in how the hell am I here. Doing 3 jobs couple years ago but luckily no major accidents. Luckily though mindfulness got me through a lot and I was also very fit back then. Eh
I don't believe he would forget to put it in park twice. More likely there's a mechanical issue with the van, where the pin inside transmission that holds the Park in place is worn out and slips out. Love to hear update on this.
I suppose it's possible he left it in reverse (looks like he backed in) and then drive (he pulled it back out). Or he put it in neutral for some reason not once but twice? I'm with you on the mechanical failure hypothesis. I'm sure those trucks are old AF and wouldn't be surprised if they laid off half the maintenance dept so their Q3 profits look good.
I don't know what happened here, but from my extensive personal experience of being a dumbass I can tell that making the exact same mistake right when you're trying to fix the first mistake is a thing that happens.
Here, we see a casual poster is raging against the commentary, which was added to the video in post production. While he calls the commentary "dumbass", it clearly helped him comprehend the fine details in the video, proving its usefulness
It's probably an automatic; most people here don't use the parking brake for automatic vehicles, so if the parking pawl fails, it rolls. That doesn't mean that the parking brake is okay, though, since not using it for too long can cause issues.
Do not try to stop anything with your body. If it's heavy, get out of the way. If it's big, get out of the way. Don't get it front of it. Tell yourself that 3 times. Burn it into your mind. Do NOT get in front of it. Do not. Do not. Do not. It isn't going to stop.
When under pressure, people act out of instinct. Especially if you really need to keep that job that's keeping you from being homeless or without health insurance.
I have dreams that I'm trying to drive my car from the back seat, stretching my legs to work the pedals with my tiptoes, stretching my arms to steer with the tips of my fingers. Terrifying.
I have a similar dream but I pretty much just *pop* am in the backseat going "fuck I need to be driving, how am i going to get up there or reach the pedals" and then I semilucidly get very confused as to how the car is on the road. I attribute the 'going' part to cruise control. But the problem would be being caught as the sole person in a vehicle that's going without controlling it more so than that I'm in a car and not controlling it. That speaks volumes I think.
like there's a parking brake AND the parking gear. How do you fuck up both? How are people out here actually not turning both of these on before they get out of a car I am so lost how this happens
who taught them to drive oh my god this is like general car safety basics! Have they never been on a hill before? Aw geeze you know what, I bet its partially because they've never driven anything but an automatic, isn't it? See I learned from a manual transmission and that was very much like "do these two steps or your car won't be where you left it"
my dad drives a manual truck, but still doesn't use the parking park in automatic cars... In fact, get's annoyed when I use it and he drives after me... He put's a lot of trust in a tiny metal pawl /shrug
FallingStar7669
And here I'm just wondering what eldritch grade that woman's lawn is set to; the truck rolls in two different directions?

From what I've heard from exFedEx drivers they are allowed to hit several vehicles per year and not get fired.

Admirable but suicidal reflexes. Never put yourself in the path of a moving vehicle. It outweighs you 20 to 1.

Maybe if the company had AC in their vehicles this might not happen when its 110 fucking degrees outside

well someone's fired

Yeah that's a failed parking pawl on that transmission probably.
rufisium
Fr how do you forget to put it in park? Does the fedex fleet not stick to any standards? I get being tired and such, but that's like driving 101

After reading more comments, I see some better explanations than what I thought.

Nah, this is believable. The first one was a regular fuckup, and the second was a brain fart due to being in panic mode.

They might also want to make sure the truck isn’t faulty
SadToSay
It is almost certainly a fault with the truck. He would be sure as hell the truck was in park when he got back into it.

Is it me or was the truck not even hit? It looks like there's at least 25cm/10in between there.

The driver's door was open.

I think a mirror clips it, you see it move a little when the van's front end should be passing the SUV's hood.

Every damn time in these videos. DO NOT TRY TO STOP A MOVING VEHICLE WITH YOUR BODY.

But I can move it with hardly any pressure, how much could it weigh? 10lb? - every idiot that tries to stop a moving vehicle with their body.
DunningKrugerBites

aThingWithTheStufAndTheJunk
Trying to stop heavy equipment with your body has been a fireable offense at every job I've ever worked at that had any heavy equipment.
SuperPickle17
it's fedex, he was fired for being late to the next stop.
faithydiesalotx
panic is a bitch
aThingWithTheStufAndTheJunk
I do get that, but it's not something you can't overcome. Neither that truck nor that lady's wall are worth a person's life.
faithydiesalotx
that's rational thinking - panic is faster than that
