Just found out Liam is decade older in new naked gun than Leslie Nielsen was in his even though they look the opposite

Jesus Christ - Hollywood just doesn't function anymore. I'm expecting a new "Gone With the Wind" starring Idris Elba and Natalie Dormer any day now.

I’m looking forward to this so much. The dad scene looks hilarious

Liam Neeson's deadpan delivery in Ted(can't remember if 1 or 2) was great. It was a genuinely funny scene of him paranoidly buying cereal and his delivery of his lines was perfect.

This isn't PhotoShop, it's a legit movie poster. It's also not a remake, it's a sequel--the cop characters are the sons of the original characters (so Liam Neeson's character is the son of Leslie Nielsen's character, for example). I've seen the trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLguU7WLreA), and it looks surprisingly good if you're a fan of the first movie IMO.

My favorite part of your comment is the fact that had to include the ‘/s’. Because you just KNOW… people.

Police squad and Naked Gun are peak comedy. I kinda have high hopes for this... The trailer for it had me rolling in the cinema.

15 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I re-watched Police Squad a couple of years ago. The first three eps were still excellent. The last three... it's good they stopped when they did. They'd run out of steam, and of jokes.

12 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually kind of like how it's not a reboot but a continuation and the entire cast are just the sons of the previous cast. I also think the end of that scene with OJ's portrait should have also had a single black glove.
But I guess they weren't sure if it would fit.

16 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dear America, for the umpteenth time: why????

17 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

I think the biggest issue this movie is going to have is that so many people think this is a remake. Even in this comment section alone a good amount were complaining about it being a remake and changed their tune learning it was a sequel and not a remake.

Did anyone else notice that both actors, Lesley Nielsen and Liam Neeson, both have the same initials? Coincidence?

16 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't like remakes, but Liam Neeson in the remake of a movie with Leslie Nelson is really funny to me because the names were sooo close

1 day ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 1

Leslie Nielsen, you mean. Ironic and hilarious you couldn't even get the name correct.

16 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 15

It's not a remake, it's a sequel.

I quite often get their names confused and this is not going to help. No longer can I say "the one from Naked Gun".

Watched this earlier this week. I'm a little bumbed but that's hollywood. I'm still gonna see it cus I'm a weak fuck who is thirsty for comedy. This is our hill, and these are our beans.

The first thing I saw about this was a clip of him in the car and it was not funny. This poster, however, gives me a little more hope.

They had me the moment Nordberg Jr. breaks the fourth wall and shakes his head at the camera.

17 hours ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

Was he OJ Simpsons son in the trailer?

11 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yep!

10 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You do realise that it's a sequel, not a reboot? Those are two different things.

17 hours ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

It's probably what's called a "soft reboot" these days.

16 hours ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

No, it's a sequel. Neeson plays his son.

14 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I thought he was the older brother...

13 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

How would he be the older brother to a man who's older than him?

13 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's not a reboot since they have established Neeson is supposed to be a "Jr." So it should be a sequel.

16 hours ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

When they released the photoshopped poster which had ten Neeson hands that all had five fingers I told my brother it was a missed opportunity to actually do something funny with AI. Putting an AI disclaimer on it really spoils the fun though, lol.

16 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a grumpy person that hates that they're still rebooting everything they can. Leslie Nielsen was 1 of 1 and it almost pains me to see this remade.

1 day ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 7

It's not really a reboot—more of a continuation, since Neeson plays Frank Drebin Jr. In the film, they’ve even got a photo of Nielsen on the cop fame board, along with George Kennedy and the rest. Honestly, I think that makes it way more palatable.

17 hours ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

I. Can't. Fricken. Wait. To. See. This!

Liam has a great comic sensibility. I believe his career will continue on into his old age with parts like this for him - just like Leslie Nielsen had.

13 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I feel the same. On the other hand Liam Neeson does some really killer deadpan so im interested

17 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Capitalists gonna capitalize. Reboots are a profitable strategy, they're gonna use it, so you might as well let go of your resentment and have a more peaceful life. Sometimes reboots are really good; like, we got the new Battlestar Galactica which was actually a lot better than the old campy 80s series. We've gotten several Superman and Batman films, all of which have had their own point of view and their own value. The new stuff is always optional and doesn't erase the past.

16 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Reboots are profitable because people go watch them. So many original concepts are outperformed by the Nth Mission Impossible and John Wick.

15 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm in agreement. this is like remaking goodfellas, casting Vin Diesel in Pesci's role, and saying he's going to do a better performance.

17 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Yeah it's exactly like that! Except for every single part of what you said.

12 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

ahh cool. so when you get a spare chance, why don't you go fuck yourself?

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Is it? Part of Nielsen’s charm is that before he did comedy, he played hardasses. This seems like a continuing of that tradition

16 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

but really what has Neeson done comedy wise? like I could see him with some of the drier parts of nielsen's humor, but to get the timing, and the expressions down as one example alone to compareit with Nielsen, just feels too far out.

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvVFvqd3lqA He’s done one of the funniest bits I’ve ever seen in a sketch comedy show

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's unnecessary. The original still holds up. But unlike all the Disney remakes, I might watch this one.

1 day ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

I'll still watch it, just as a pirate lol. Just not thrilled that they can't come up with fresh movies

17 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's not that they can't, it's intentional. Notice the HUGE uptick in Nostalgiabait films and old franchises they're ressurecting? It's a direct result of the recent union strikes in Hollywood— no need to pay good writers what they're worth if the Studio already owns everything in the IP, or has an "in perpetuity" contract for the IP. You just get an intern to churn out a basic script, then feed it to AI for the details (or vice versa) and then you save about $1-2 Million & pay no royalties.

13 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sequel, not remake.

14 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Really? I totally thought it was a remake on the first movie?

13 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope. He's Frank Drebin Jr., and there's a scene in the trailer where it shows a bunch of photos of old cops, and Leslie Nielsen is there as Frank Drebin Sr., and a few of the other actors from the original are on the wall too.

12 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the 4th wall break when it comes to OJ Simpsons picture was great

12 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

99,999% of the people who say they hate this are all gonna go watch it anyway (as the ticket sales will prove), proving the execs that shitty remakes make money so they will just keep doing them. The real ones who don't encourage this shit and will never see it: I see you and appreciate you, and your excellent taste.

17 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Haven't paid for more than 3 movies in the last ten years probably. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me.

17 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But this isn't a reboot, or a remake. It is a sequel. The Naked Gun 444 1/4th, if you will.

16 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fine, in this movie's case I don't approve. In some cases sequels would be appreciated, but I would prefer they'd make entirely new movie that has nothing to do with the original. Not even sure if they can make the humor the same, and make it work, in this day and age. But I'm old and so I'm gonna stick with the original Naked Gun trilogy.

16 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is your good right. However, judging from what I saw so far, the humor is mostly on point.
I lost it when Norberg Jr. shook his head at the camera after looking at his dads picture, who was played with OJ Simpson. That sort of shit is exactly the kind of joke that'd be in Police Squad.

16 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you watch the original King Kong or one of the "reboots"?

You can skip it and let the newer generations enjoy it, no harm done.

17 hours ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Dude, spoilers!

16 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll still watch it, won't pay them, but I'm allowed to be grumpy that they don't come up with fresh ideas and just keep piggybacking stuff from the 70/80s

17 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Think the hint was that the original King Kong movie is from 1933 & all those after are remakes/reboots. So the reboot/remake stuff goes way back to the early days of cinema.

17 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Read it like "do you only watch OGs or do you admit to watching reboots?" I get how you're reading it, they have been doing it a long time. I think there's almost 30 movies with Kong in it lol. Something wild like that.

16 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where do you get that there are no new ideas?

15 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Because the last few ads for movies I've seen include: final destination reboot, naked gun reboot, John wick spin off, Jurassic park reboot, top gun 3, the accountant 2, conjuring spinoff, freaky Friday 2, nobody 2, how to train your dragon remake.

15 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, many sequels and remakes, but also some originals. Maybe we have to dig a bit: https://www.the-numbers.com/market/2025/top-grossing-movies

15 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Go watch more movies. I've been seeing original films nearly every month at the theater and they've all been great. And those are just the movies I've seen, not counting the others that came out that I haven't. Plenty of new movies coming out.

Back in '04 I was on night shift and my supervisor was on day shift. We had a document that we would write notes and reminders from one shit to the other in. He always loved using way more exclamation points than necessary. Then he started experimenting with colors (bad) and fonts (hard to read) to draw attention to things. One Phriday I happened onto this, added it to the document and the insanity stopped. /a/oR3FKB0
