So I just moved into a new house that my grandparents had and I found this gem in the basement inside a brick vault! It’s locked and I don’t know anything about them. If y’all help me get it open I’ll make a post about what is in it!

I hope you didnt rapidly spin the dial. You can damage the lock mechanism.

Call a locksmith, or send serial number to the company. And you'd better deliver, better men than you have lost accounts over this stuff!

173284. Is it the combo or the serial number stamped right by the lower hinge

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I highly doubt it’s the combo. I think it’s the serial

Cut the hinges off or xray it. Or, you know, find the combination. Call the mfg if they're still in business & give serial no.?

You can also drill the lock out, but might need more info on exactly where to do that.

Option c: find a 4-5 story building with an elevator. Drop repeatedly until open.

You're gonna get so much shit until you post the opened safe. You risk losing your account to disgruntled imgurians.

Hire a locksmith. Your problem is literally the lock, which you can pay a professional to open for you.

"First open the door", yeah, I think that's the step he's having issues with.

Yeah, I know...I was just messin' with him!

That sounds doable. I just need help opening the door.

I know; I was just messin' with you!

Is it true though?

I don't know about the "6 screws" but this IS how you determine the combination of a safe dial. Source: I did it myself on an antique safe.

This was a safe that had the door already open...the combination was just unknown.

...have all notches lined up against the notch fence, recording subsequent numbers in the combination. Replace the thin steel panel. Done!
