I designed the entire suit you see here in Solidworks, which I then 3D printed in plastic! Everything's printed except the fake leather, rivets, and that silky bathrobe.

I aim to recreate accurate 16th century armor in both function, motion, and aesthetics as a costume piece, not intended for fighting or anything like that.

Everything done on an Ender 3 V3KE, a small 220x220mm printer, in petg plastic, and then painted using Alclad II. If you're curious about the metallic painting process, here's a video about the steps involved:

I'm always adding new parts, like these pauldrons, designed to be exchanged and compatible together with other parts of the set. I share my files on Printables and on Etsy, if you're interested in making your own.

It's a lance rest! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lance_rest#
It's a 14th century invention. Basically, on horseback, it allows you to set your lance in the horizontal position ("couched") during a forward charge. Upon impact, instead of moving back violently and ripping off your arm, the lance rest will redirect the energy to your center of mass.
