I remember when a tabletop was a competition level trick, now that insanity is a backyard ramp trick... And that feat of engineering is a backyard ramp!
And my 8 year old nephew broke both arms falling off the monkey bars and then a few months after getting his casts off decided the best way to break his fall off his bike was with his chin....
When I was like 6, I had to go to the Doctor to get stitches taken out of my head from a fall the previous week. About two hours later, the same doctor, now on his ER shift has to put a completely different set of stitches in my head from a fall.
My 8yo gymnast son was so excited the first time he generated a giant swing on the high bar he turned to yell to his coach, forgetting he was still rotating... slipped off the bar, crashed str8 into the ground, green stick fracture of left arm. He's a lefty too. He did get a "well done son" from the coach. I was told the rest of the kids laughed heartely.
I've done that! The chin thing. Bit all the way through the skin under my lip somehow, but the doctor didn't believe me. So when he went to inject painkiller into the wound, I spat it out onto his shoe (it tasted awful).
A friend of mine was more effective, he did that all in one run. Broke his arm and his two front (permanent) teeth in the process. But he never did any physical activity again. I appreciate the bravery of your nephew. And this is one of the reasons I always wanted a girl, haha.
Apparently that's a major problem in the states due to the urban sprawl zoning not generating sufficient income from property tax to support the required infrastructure for such low density zoning. And trying to raise tax to cover said costs is political suicide.
That's not that bad. There are some streets in the city near me that are nothing but patches. Not because they can't afford to fix them, but because the residents on that street have some influence and don't want to have their street shut down for a week while the repairs are done. Also I suspect they don't mind the road being screwed up, because it keeps through traffic down. They're OK driving half a block on terrible roads if it keeps the traffic on their street low.
Looks nice-ish…those were the roads around here when I was growing up anyway, my park was tiny gravel littered with broken glass or empty parking lot also broken glass 🤔
very state dependent and then to some extent county. i live in a state with good roads. the random rural roads near me (that ones that aren’t just gravel), are *significantly* better than that, and are actually just *good*.

InnerBushman
That was clean as fuck. The reaction is totally justified.
thosearntpillows
Damn that was smooth!
scr1bbl3
The thing that stands out for me here is how smooth he dismounted knowing he’d succeeded - that’s a kid who’s done that a hundred times or more.
I mean, that and ‘where does he get such wonderful toys?’

I carefully got out of the bed of a pick up truck recently and my right knee hurt for 36 hours. Son of a bitch I've got 4 years until 40 .. 😔
Jaqdakloun
That's fucking impressive
PeeterGrant
Impressive, though it's a lot safer to try when you're basically landing on a bouncy castle.
WhiskyBravo
kid is going to grow up to be one of those crazy x-gamers

Immediate down vote, camera person failed to high five obvious bike god. 15 yard penalty. First down.

I wonder how people celebrated awesome bike stunts and things like that in the 1800s. It seems like they wouldn't know how to.

It's amazing to me that he's like a parent, every skater wants approval from, and he does whenever his fans are around.

🤯 and his landing on the ramp was really soft. Full kudos!!
Gdub1337
Even if ramps like that were available when I was his age, my folks would have just pointed to a moldy piece of 1/4" plywood and a cinder block.

He is SCARY smart. Athletic skills of a dead duck but....smart as can be. So's his little brother.

Voting for small government means crap roads.
Hashbrown123
Depends on the state. As someone that grew up on the state line between NH and Mass it was always very obvious when you crossed.
badgesweedontneednostinkingbadges
It depends on the area. In the northern states, frost heaves wreak havoc on the roads.

Likely as not, someone important lives on that road.
