what do scanner drivers have to do with it?

not 100% sure about python, but in other programming languages the scanner is what detects keyboard inputs. Most programs run and then finishes, but if you waiting for someone to input keys, you need the program to stay in the background and in terms on waiting for someone to type something, the "scanner" basicially sits in the background scanning for any input.

You joke, but *several* layers of 'tism went into making this. I'd release the Code but the it contains my api login so I need to find out how to get that out the code first.

environment variables or a config file that doesn't get checked in. explain in the readme what variables to set or where to put the config file and what it's format is. also explain how to get the required api keys

lol, I figured. I got the vidya games 'tism (I particularly like retro games), so when I saw coding, retro tech, *and* trains in one place I thought "this is the most "Yippee" thing I've ever seen". I tip my cap to you Madam 👏

Dad was one of the senior officers in charge of a tourist railroad in AZ and had the largest privately owned model train collection in the 70s and 80s. I'm very concerned now.
