I create worlds

Nov 26, 2020 10:06 PM

Since I was 12 years old I gamed. Day for day, until today. (I am 25 years old)

I recently got married to a beautiful woman and asked myself:
"Do you really just wanna game all day? It won't give you anything in return besides good hand-eye coordination."

So I looked at unreal engine and started fiddling around.

First a bit.

Now "full time" since a year.

This is my latest child: Ashfyr.

Tropical, arctic, grasslands, flying islands.

I even get commissions like this map.

I've made progress in my level design where I look at it and can proudly say:
"Hey this doesn't totally look like a dumpster fire."

A glowbug cave I created.
I took a sphere, made it tiny and added an emissive material to it.

I love doing this, I love map work and giving people these things.
All maps I do or have done where a Mod map at some point.

This is where it started.
Today I even can apply as game dev for level design.
Real games, honest work for an honest dollar.

It makes me happy.
Helps me fulfill my dreams.
Getting feedback from players who love, criticize and help develop these things is a big help in my personal development.

It feels less like wasting my lifetime.

If you are reading all this till down here:
Thank you and have a great day.

If you wanna follow my personal development/work development then feel free to join my discord and hang out/ask questions.

TL;DR: I got up and did a thing.

Cheers!

Honestly, these are really gorgeous, I used to dick around with Terragen and made some kinda nice renders but this is a whole new beast.
