I don't know if I can live like this

Oct 4, 2022 10:02 PM

Beginning of the year I was in terrible shape. Kept losing weight despite eating constantly, severe fatigue, debilitating headaches and I had lost control of my bowels. Constantly running to the bathroom with diahrrea, and I mean every 30 minutes. Shitting the bed almost every night. Never sleeping more than an hour. I thought I was dying...and technically I was. Turned out I have type 1 diabetes....at 32 years old. My average blood sugar for the past three months was between 400 and 450. A1C was 12.6. Doctors said it's possible that Covid could've caused my immune system to attack my pancreas. But who knows. My A1C as of yesterday is down to 8.8 so I'm getting it under control. But I'm still having issues with energy levels, putting on weight (I'm 135 lbs) and I'm still running to the bathroom every hour or so on the bad days. Haven't had a solid poop in 6 months. Neuropathy has settled in. I get stabbing pains in my feet and legs. My resting heart rate is roughly 110 bpm. I'm putting in the work to get better but it's crippling. I'm missing work all the time. Slowly going broke. Depression is taking over again. Sorry for the gross information but I just needed to vent. Haven't had much support my friends or family. Been going at this alone and I don't know if I have the strength.

TLDR: thought I was dying, literally shitting myself to death. Turns out I got type 1 diabetes at 32. Shit sucks yo.

I know someone personally who ended up with Type 1 from COVID.

Seriously? Well at least I'm not the only one. What a crazy thing to get from a virus.

It's a crazy virus. My symptoms weren't severe but it did take a full year to get over them.

Is usually for type 2 but is there an alternative for type 1?

That is a terrible situation to be in op. Especially in the 'beginning' of am illness or can be so incredibly disruptive and crazy for lack

of better words. I hope things slowly will improve for you. Sometimes trying to make it day by day is too much to ask..

then hour by hour is the only way to make it through the day. I wish you a strength!

It really is hour by hour. Got off work early. Going to take a nap. Only slept a few hours last night. Thanks for the kind words
