I didn't get the job, which sucks.
But the single fact that they didn't event contact me and I had to find out through checking in with the app. It's demoralizing to see "Application Declined"…
This shit sucks. I don't have the proper work experienced because of my ex not letting me work.
And now, at 33 all I know how to do is clean…cook and the past s3x work I did.
I've nothing against my skills and how I pushed myself to keep my head afloat by using my body. But now, I am trying to figure out where to go in life.
I don't know what to do. I want to find work.
But I really don't know what skills I have that can be translated into something viable that they'll hire me for. I feel powerless..

Coming from the industry. Look into hospitality, hotels or events. Plenty of jobs that you can apply numerous organizational skills or social skills. Front desk, event setup, activations. Look in your area for jobs under the title "general service contractor"

Go to a local union. They have open calls, which is literally "entry" level and they pay better than most positions with degrees.

Think of your experience in abstract instead of concrete terms. Instead of s3x work, think of it as customer service work, include any negotiation skills, any experience handling money, and any customer relation skills (eg listening to what the customer wants etc). It’s hard sometimes to see beyond concrete activities to what skills are behind them when there are specific labels placed on jobs.

Certificates go a long way for employers these days and there are a lot of free courses. They cover everything from the basics (MS Office) to specialities (bookkeeping) up to undergrad work. Coursera is a decent aggregator for programs. I’ve used them and it made a difference for me when I was interviewing.

here's a super cut of some funnies. wishing you warmth and recovery so that when it comes to apply again, you'll be fired up for it.

Job seeking sucks ass these days. Assume you won’t hear back. Assume it’s a rejection until proven otherwise. Keep applying as if all previous applications went nowhere. Only stop once you have that signed contract.

Job hunting has basically become a numbers game. Even with a Bachelors of engineering it typically takes 100+ applications to get even one interview.
