The tighter curves I find work best with electrical tape, but it's too expensive and sticks too firm for most of the run.

For tight curves there's special tape at body shops, barely 5mm large and very bendable. You still have to use larger tape outside for safety. Difference is no color seeps under the dege.

We have some at our shop, I only use it for very tight curves because it's so thin and black tape saves time.
