Hah, I'm wearing my 'Hoid for President' shirt while reading this post. Stormfather, that's impressive work.

no thing beats reading from a leatherbound tome.

Man, I can only get so erect. These are sexy as hell. I tried to bind a book in canvas once it turned out looking like a DIWhy project lol.

*Plot twist - op likes binding books, but not writing. The pages are blank. Just kidding op, they're beautiful!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love it! We have them leatherbound already and they are so nice, but it must be extra cool to know that you did it yourself! I love them, you did great, and they look aweaome!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy flip !! I have no how it is possible to make such fine work by yourself but I'm amazed, the result is so incredibly professional and beautiful !

Oh you're the person who make those incredible skeletons ! Where does your talent stop ?

Amazing work on incredible books, love it

The action sequences in his books are the best waves for your emotions and heartbeats to ride. You've made the covers as much interesting, if not more!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ahhhhh!! I bought a tiny wendigo skeleton from you, too! All of the tiny skeletons are just so cool. Plus the Stormlight book bindings are fantastic- you're very talented!

Hoid approves of this work.

(Link to OP's shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ValravenShop) Thanks. I had to wipe drool off my keyboard after seeing this. I really feel the need to point out how much time had to go into the intricate scrollwork. And for those who might say 'it was probably cut out on a Cricut or Silhouette', even a method like that takes hours and hours of spatula work to remove the negative space without screwing it up. it's not as forgiving a process as you may think.

Books like this are my love!

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That's why i want to learn to make them, the shiny, the smell, the touch and the "Hummpf" when you put them on a desk.... love it !

You just described everything I love about leathrt bound books. Also have to learn it one day to finish one of the few things I still need: A large heavily decorated mage tome.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sexy! Do you take requests/commissions? I have a reque… never mind I am too poor. But very nice work

I can help you with some leather binding at no charge. I'll provide the leather and do the binding.

Where did books come into this?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well....that's still a good offer :)

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Legit, I can name a line of books I guarantee people would buy for a healthy sum.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definitely, so long as everyone's on board with the plan

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Those are incredible. Not sure you could sell them without risking legal issues, but I would buy a set.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Rebinding does not break any copyright or trademark laws. As long as you legally purchase the books, you can have them rebound any way you like. That does mean that they can only make them to order of course.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Aye libraries do this all the time. Granted the work varies on funds and what the book is worth.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: Quality books have pages bound in "signatures"; 8, 16, or 32 pages sewn together. The signatures are then bound together in the book. Often there are blank pages at the end because the number of signature pages is greater than the number of printed pages.

Absolutely amazing @op. Me waaaaaaaaants

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You definitly nailed the look and feel of Sanderson's leatherbounds and the WoK's looks really close to his official leatherbound. Fantastic job.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I straight up thought it was just someone posting that they had got the Dragonsteel versions at first. Hot damn.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you ! That's what i was aiming for :)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now for the ultimate quality test. Throw the book at someone.

How do you get a one-armed Herdazian out of a tree?

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

In the middle of way of kings for the first time. These books are good but super long.

You're doing it wrong. You WANT super long books.

Oh I went into this knowing I'd be busy for a while.

I'm listening to the Mistborn series right now. on the third one, cherishing every minute. going to listen to this series next

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congratulations and buckle up. It's gonna be an amazing ride.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

More to enjoy!

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've also had trouble working through them. I'm still on the first after 2.5 years because it's just so dense. It's like a Thanksgiving dinner; I have a big helping once, and then I need a break for a while.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You're in for a treat ! They're so good !

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Enjoy the ride.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

you say that like it's a bad thing...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're, uh, all like that. What'll be frustrating is when the characters backslide and have to re-learn the same lessons (over and over...). If you're like me, you'll find yourself skipping along so you can finally get to the freakin' point.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Good luck! It’s a great series!!! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them and would recommend it too (especially if you are struggling). Each character has a distinctive voice that really does help differentiate them and make everyone feel more special.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah I listen to the audio book when I mow the lawn.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And the author still has time for other projects. Sanderson is a writing machine.

2 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

I am convinced he will be the one to fonnish the game of thrones books like he did wheel of time.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Nah, GRRM supposedly has it in his will to not allow anyone to finish his work when he’s gone. Absolute toddler, he is. I’m all for creating art for your own sake, but you’ve created a world and a story, and thus a promise that your readers want honored. Art is meant to be shared, not hoarded like some ancient wyrm. Also, much as I love Brandon and his work, I don’t know if his writing style would mesh with GRRM’s grittier realism and graphic nature.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sanderson has said that he doesn't think he could or would do it. He doesn't like grim dark and the closest he has come to it is Mistborn.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And when the pandemic hit, he wrote even more without teling everyone. While they aren't his greatest (at least the 2 that are out so far), they are still fun reads and, the way I see it, we wouldn't have gotten them if it weren't for Covid.

I must admidt that we have not yet read the new books, they are too pretty to open T^T

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I read the digital and listened to the audiobook versions. I carefully flipped through the physical ones to take in the artwork.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, i should grap my partners email at get the versions he have there on! I should do that later so we can get it set up and listend to :D
