I may be a masochist....

I've had a personal site for a while now, but I never really did much with it aside from put a little self-bio thing on it. Recently, I decided I wanted to add a blog-like thing to it so I can have a place to... I don't know... rant about quick pickles or talk about hobby projects or something. It's just nice to have some digital property to call my own that isn't bound to any particular social media site's whims, even if I don't regularly use it. You never know if you might have to jump ship some day --or if the site will decide to yeet you itself.
Now, if I were a sane person, I would just install a preexisting blogging software and be done with it. But I'm not a sane person. So I've been writing a barebones weblog software for my needs because of who I am as a person despite knowing it's objectively a worse decision, and I'm doing it in PHP because it's the easiest to stand up despite being an absolute clusterfuck of a language.
And if you have no idea what I just said:
TL;DR local idiot decides to reinvent the wheel by whittling a rock into a vaguely wheel-like shape using a shitty piece of metal.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

it got to better than node.js...

I've used node.js before for work. It's a different circle of hell for sure.

PHP (and learning how to use it correctly) took me from being a web designer to building & selling my first enterprise SaaS app. You do you!

Really, I need to just stay in my lane which is Java-based desktop applications. But I'm 50% engineer and 50% dumbass so here I am.

So no Laravel for you? What about all the CMS 's out there in PHP. It's not a bad language...

I honestly have no idea what's written in what nowadays. I sort of assumed everybody moved on to typescript-y things --React, Angular, etc
StarSumiaki
PHP gets the job done, but I do frequently have bones to pick with its syntax and documentation. It's kind of a hot mess sometimes.

Agreed, so many statements must be hard typed, while many can be soft typed. Some variables can be read as other types but not all.
StarSumiaki
Loose lips sink ships and loose types create gripes. Also, fuck whoever decided the arbitrary inconsistent function naming scheme was okay.

Link? Asking for a PHP pen-tester friend.
StarSumiaki
No thanks. I choose to remain ignorant of how many hundreds of holes you can find in a hundred lines of PHP.
apieceofclaythatweighsatonne
Oh, don't you worry! Without writing any php your web server already has a dozen or more vulnerabilities due to the installed httpd!
