Think of it like this, you only need one to stick. At least thats my mantra.

Hey, um... I think the system isn't working (for us, I mean).

Maybe pick a different field?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A lot of companies don't hire at the end of the year. Might have to wait until first quarter for the new employee budgets to kick in.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I applied almost 400 times. Starting my new job on Monday.

You are shooting to high. Lower your standards and improve your average. Works for dating too.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Took me quite a few more than that to get a full time job

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Took me 2 full years to find an engineering job out of college. Don't give up and you'll find an in soon!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Keep at it, friend! It WILL work out at one point and you will look back and tell yourself how proud you are to have kept going!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tried buying your own social media company

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm embarrassed to say but I've only ever got turned down for a job twice. And I didn't even apply for it, they contacted me.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For one they thought me over qualified. The second I was the runner-up. Feel bad that my life is too easy.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the goblins need you. Your work is desired by the goblins. This is your only chance. Do it for the goblins.

It might be time for a resume re-write. Write for a computer and not a person. Many places don't even have people going through until later.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Censor your personal info and drop me your resume. I might be able to help

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My current job I got turned down for the job I wanted, but a different department heard about me and decided to hire me.

Good luck, never give up! I have been looking for months, submitting on average 5 a day. Keep submitting out of spite for the system.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Did 150 last month after 6 months unemployed. Got only 5 interviews but landed a job paying GBP40k more than my previous role. Stay strong!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Took me 600+ 2017.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well for what it's worth I thoroughly enjoyed your meme. Best of luck though! It'll come!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Tech industry" is incredibly broad so it is hard to tell if this is standard or outside the curve for what you are trying to do.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apply for jobs you don't want. At least you don't feel so bad if you don't get them.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

140 applications, one interview. That one interview led to a job (though it wasn't what i was looking for, hopefully it'll help boost my cv)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At one point I stopped counting and just committed to applying to atleast one place every week.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

After the first couple hundred and a year of unemployment you learn that even the numbers dont matter. Nothing matters it doesnt make sense.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

M-maybe it's the resume?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The first time I applied to work in tech it was 5 resumes a day with cover letters for five months. I got one callback and got my job. The1/

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

second time I sent zero. I had three people contact me unprompted over the span of a year, poaching me due to my linkedin page. Went with 2/

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the last one, just because it was the most interesting.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, im way past 100. Dec/Q4 is the worst time to be looking. Mid Jan will be better. I'm way over qualified for 80% of reqs too. Good luck

2 years ago | Likes 157 Dislikes 2

I applied to over 200 jobs in a 4 month period last year before I finally got something.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Be sure to ask friends or colleagues from your industry to check your resume.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I feel both of you, I'm in the same situation. Stress has me losing my hair. ?? we got this in jan

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I took a demotion to get out of my previous job. Has given me headspace and recovery time. It was a good decision

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Former recruter though not very long here - it’s not the candidates. Everything shuts down for Xmas. Lots of fiscal year ends too.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Makes it harder to get a job when over qual’d. HR sees it as a risk. Either pay your worth or risk you moving on. They hate both options

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yes, undersell if you get desperate for a job!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tailor to fit the job, not underbelly. Similar but not the same

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What are your skills?

Chances are your resume is getting roundfiled by bots. Get some help in getting it bot-compliant.

2 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

This. I started sending my resume as a basic text document and not the fancy one, started getting responses immediately

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

As a manager, I prefer simple. Make the details in your experience count

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a valid thing - if you try to fancy up your CV too much, it's going to just get tossed. Keep it simple. I also need context for /

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

these posts. Like, "I applied to over 100 bikini teams to be the suntan lotion applier." What are these professions that need no one?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ive got probably 40 out there for scrum master at the moment.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I need to recertify my CSM

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Legit.. and also, use recruiters. They go straight to the recruiters of the companies

@ltturtles

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Recruiters are how I got my last 2 jobs

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Same!! And lots of word of mouth, but I'm in a small industry. Everyone talks, so always stay professional

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's how I got ny first job too. I'm currently on over 420 applications. The struggle is real!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

nice

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good luck - I'm so glad I never really had to do the applications thing.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Same here. I've probably handed out 10 resumes in my life

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The only actual application I've ever done was for a job I already had, but they had to jump through the hoops for the funding.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hahah crazy. I got my first job at age 13 from a family friend and stayed there till I was 28 and I've been at my current job 12 years. >>>

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There was a bit of limbo in between those jobs where I handed out a few. Had 3 random jobs in between

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've had loads of different jobs, but I've often been self-employed but never unemployed. Mostly people have just asked me to work for them.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's pretty cool! My current I was witnessed working by someoneand 2 weeks later they scooped me.
