First time I ever saw Tony Hawk was in the Christian Slater movie Gleaming the Cube. Met him years ago at the Lords of Dogtown premiere, super cool guy. Guy is one of the greats.
These games defined my childhood. The new version usually showed up right around my birthday and we always seemed to have a 3 day weekend at that time too. I’d host sleepovers with friends and play them until the sun came up. Some of my fondest memories!
Those first two games (Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2) were truly something very special. They came out at just the right time, CKY was gathering momentum and popularity that would ultimately develop into Jackass. Grunge was coming to an end, and Skater Punk slotted perfectly into the void. Everyone & their mother was skateboarding, the PS1 had already broke the home console mould. Then came Neversoft & Activision…. Genius. v
Lol, I’m not leaving them out, I just never played them. I saw on YT a while ago that they remade Tony Hawk’s for the PS5 (maybe 4), I think when I have some money to burn I may pick up a new console, my original PS3 seems to be quite dated now. 🤣😂

There’s a documentary about it on Prime Video that is pretty good. “Pretending I'm a Superman: The Tony Hawk Video Game Story”
RoyalWithChz
Thank you! I am gonna go watch that now!

Man. Now I'm all nostalgic and sad.

THUG 1/2 were also fun. I loved the open world aspect and rpg style elements
energeticEchos
THUG 1 may have been the only game I used the PS2 dial up modem for 😂
Shewy92
Why do people leave out the THUGs and American Wasteland?

4 was my personal favorite. I remember when someone put 4 on the computers at school and I was learning how much easier grinding was on PC than PS2.
Inmate45
Yes! Don't get me wrong, I love number 2, but number 4 changed everything in the best way. I've beaten it on like, 5 different systems.

Hey, this game looks a lot like that Tony Hawk Pro Skater game!
