Imgur has taken the decision to ban Nudity or Sexually Explicit content on the entire site, including hidden posts.

Previously, only posts sent to the community were tied to this, but now, it is being applied sitewide. As someone that uses Imgur for the ability to host NSFW images... It's gonna be a bad time.

I don't personally care, but still...

@MartynMage is this an accurate reading? If so, does the word tumblr mean anything?

I reposted an artwork with nudity just to check. /gallery/X5UWP4X

Well I guess then when imgur becomes the next Tumblr I wonder if the mod team will be consoled by the AI. Seriously. What the fuck is wrong with nudity? I'd rather see nudity than anything to do with Trump and his gaggle of imbeciles.

I don't understand - where is all of the discussion (and presumably outrage) over this? Is this topic being censored and suppressed by imgur? It took me like 15 minutes to find this post.

Tumblr 2.0 incoming?

Download your images in case they get falsely flagged and removed by the automated system https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/articles/201738607-Image-Downloads

Well fuck this shit... So. You guys know of another service ?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

This will probably not affect the usual shitposters, but will hit hard anyone using Imgur as a generic image hosting service

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Im gonna repost one of my older posts with nudity in an art work.

Nice, now please also all guns and war stuff. Also very dangerous. Any substance related things and let‘s go back where it should be: all day cats and dogs

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And yes that was irony of course.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Oh no! Where else on the internet could I possibly go for lewd content? /s

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

This literally goes against the entire reason this site was created, this is the very definition of selling out.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

They sold out when it was bought by Medialab a year ago

Honestly, i didn't even know there was nudity on this site.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stumbler or something like that.

Apparently they are also deleting non account content which will break a lot of walkthrough forums and such. I hope they reconsider and the backlash actually makes it to front page in busy hours.

Such use of Imgur as a hotlink host for other web sites has long been disallowed, just not well enforced.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Am I wrong to think for a long time it was meant to be so for reddit? To prevent it from happening more is one thing, to destroy the past use of it is another in my opinion.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Within legal reason of course

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It was indeed an image host for Reddit at first, though now Reddit can host its own images.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

uh, what? They straight-up give you the bbcode for use on "message boards & forums"

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Indeed. Weird, huh? But to quote the terms, "Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network."

artistic? how is that going to affect the likes of @derekmatters2 and some of the other great artists here? is there any explanation for this move?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Unless they put a blanket over his account and other popular ones; the ai will probably flag him and most of the content. No, there has not been, most I've seen is a mod just regurgitating the new policy.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

if it's deemed against ToS they wouldn't be able to justify protecting one account and not others though, surely?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

They don't really need to justify actions unless made to. We'll see; there's already websites reporting this happening. I hope they just back pedal as the policy isn't technically in effect yet.

“Fuck your censorship” @WickedSludge

A wise man once said, "You gotta fight for your right to party"

They also recently deleted my comment stating "F**k your censorship". So, this is where we're at.

For a while certain words just won't post. I do kinda agree with that but I know of two that are just intently taken off. Try typing re.......... tard

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Why would you need to say that?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I discovered it on a post a few years back for a fire re.....tardant system for a commercial kitchen. I manage commercial kitchens and I tried to say that word in my comment and discovered that I couldn't. You can't say any adjacent word

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I should have specified. There is zero reason to use that word.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

That's sad on multiple levels especially considering what's talked about here. A lot of things have me questioning how much they suppress.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

The rest of the comment in question went a bit like: "imgur has been headed downhill for a while. But this new policy is a dive off a cliff"

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

They deleted my comment "mommy wow, I'm a big kid now" a month ago. Last night I posted a risky gif, and deleted it myself 5 minutes after. I still got a warning an hour later saying they took my comment down hahaha

They’re also owned by world star hip hop, have data points on what you like and dislike by tags on posts, your email, your phone number, and your address if you’ve participated in secret Santa. They’re selling all this data to advertisers, which is why the original founders were able to sell it to world star

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Just because it doesn’t “feel” like one of those other websites: Instafacetok, doesn’t mean it isn’t

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Why do they have your phone number?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

To start a new account you need it I believe

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's horrible

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm just guessing though

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Shhh don’t say anything, they are always listening.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

What's so bloody wrong with nudity? It's a stupid decision, who is pushing this?

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 2

I was wondering if imgur had opened itself to AI bots, and as part of the deal they were told that nudity/explicit images needed to be excluded.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

oh: http://medialab.ai/

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Advertisers definitely, but I think it will also save Imgur capital and running costs to purge a significant % of images that don't result in ad revenue.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

gonna use all the adblockers now

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

You can't spell advertisements without semen between the tits.
