For indie games, sure. For a $70 AAA game with several paid DLC packs, in app purchases, microtransactions... I don't think so.

The only way I'd be tipping assholes like this is if it was out of an open, upper-floor window.

I hope he’s not expecting any tips for Overwatch 2, because I’ve got news for him…

Why would I tip people who make shitty games? Why didn't those fuck knuckles or their parents tip me when I was a soldier? I argue Blizzard would not exist at all were it not for the service and sacrifices of servicemembers, road construction crews and mailpeople. Why isn't Blizzard tipping them? Fuck Blizzard, I'm going to go buy some Super Credits in Helldivers II, not because I need any of them, but I'd rather tip an indy team that makes a good game and doesn't sexually assault women.

i've often said that we are eventually gonna be at a point where cops give us a ticket, then hold up one of those tablet screens where we can tip them, and that how much we tip them decides if they commit police brutality, or plant drugs on us.

Corporate suit: If we force tipping culture down people's throats in literally every industry, we can keep making ludicrous profit without being responsible for a living wage! It's brilliant, and there's absolutely no way it will destroy all goodwill for tipping even in traditionally tip-centric business models

if I like a game enough, I'll get it on multiple systems if it's available. That's my "tipping" the creators. Stuff like Hollow Knight, Bug Fables, and Night in the Woods, I have on both Steam and the Switch.

Or, and hear me out mike, you pay your employees good wages and not exploit them w/ inhumane overtime. Just a thought

By creators they of course don't mean the actual creators, the developer writing the code, designing the models, etc. They mean themselves.

"Sure! The creators, we have a tiered system. Producer gets 90%, after a small 40% cut from the publisher, another 30% for studio, then..."

I mean, I bought a $6 sticker pack for MHW because I got 1600 hours of incredible fun out of MHW and Iceborne and I just kind of felt they had earned the extra money after a certain point.

Indeed. Some games are that special... with the list pretty much starting and ending with MH games. Certainly no Blizzard games have ever been that special.

Sure! Make a game worth tipping and I might consider it! But don't count on getting another Penny out of me if there are micro transactions and you plan on charging $30 for every expansion that should have been part of the core game

Literally no games are that special. Especially the garbage Blizzard has been serving up

I will not tip anyone unless it's a waiter who serves tables or a pizza delivery person.

I tip my haircut person, and honestly, even if she cuts my hair into a nasty rats nest, I'd still say I love it and tip.

Hotel housekeeping too.

I'm so glad that the president is acknowledging the contributions from the creator staff. So they'll start getting paid more now... right?

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No, no, no, they get tips now. We'll reduce their wages as an incentive to do better & get more tips. :P

The fact the top of the chart games right now have at best a small team and cheap prices mean absolutely nothing!

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Right? There were lots of AAA disappointments lately.

Oh, the same game and company that just came out with a character that mines underground who so happens to be Hispanic? The same company who put all white characters and a gorilla on the “good team” while the baddies Talon got 4 dark-skinned characters? I’m shocked……

Used to be Jim Sterling. Y'know. "Thank fucking God for me" critic on video game and related stuff. Still worth watching for hot takes.

James Stephanie Sterling, been doing game industry videos for years. Every time people think companies can't scrape the bottom of the barrel any more, they seem to do just that. https://www.youtube.com/@JimSterling/videos
