Woowee, that Etch A Sketch sure is tiny! And guess what? I hated every moment of working on this size, lol. But at least it gives you all the opportunity to see what the inside looks like! Which is kinda nifty if I say so myself!

Open Etch A Sketch. Spray aluminium powder everywhere. Dozen people die from lungs complications.

The internal components actually bear a striking difference in that the metal axes are held by the pressure of the top portion of the frame weighing it down. In other models the axes are entirely linked on both sides by the wires that operate the stylus. You can keep being a jerk about it if you want though

Picture of that girl: "Oh fuck, you're going to make me etch".

I wish she actually moved the controls so we can see the stylus & pulley system in action

I was afraid to make the powder go airborne but I'll make sure to do that on a future occasion!

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So... same as the big one, eh?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More or less! The big one looks a little different in configuration but it's the same basic principle

On a related note.

They are running the centrifuge with the lid open! Right in front of my OSHA handbook!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What is this, a centrifuge for ants?

1 year ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

They’ve got giant hands!

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I thought it was a tiny record player

Wait... is THIS what a microbiologist does? I feel I've been lied to...

Thats a microbiologist using tools made for a microbiologist. Look at how big their hands are.

Now put it back together.

I did, and then I sent the permanent art to the client, and then they Karened all over the place about it so I just refunded her because it was too much hassle and that's the long of the short of why I will never do an art commission on this Etch A Sketch size ever again

1 year ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

FFS, at least make them send it back to you first. I hate seeing assholes get free stuff through their assholery.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Under normal circumstances I agree, I'd make the customer send the art back. But it became such a multi-paragraph back-and-forth that I decided it was worth actually paying to end the conversation forever. It wasn't even worth the principle to me anymore. The good news is that this is the only time I've ever refunded for a commissioned piece in my 8 years of doing this full-time. I'll consider that a win!

A litte rust and an Etch A Sketch and you got thermite

1 year ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

Damn, the Macgyver reboot goes hard!

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Depending on what the stylus mechanism is made of -- no need to ADD any rust -- If you do it right it will make its own with a sneeze, a flame and a little (bad) luck.

Lighting it however is a pain.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, you just need a bunch of sparklers. Ezpz

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ah yes .. Because I always have access to fireworks...

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I just use magnesium.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ah yes, I keep a roll of magnesium in my study. Let me just run and fetch it.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or just get it for $9 with 2 day shipping from Amazon. It’s a lot cheaper and easier to come by than a big stack of etch-a-sketches

Thermite doesn't boom, just burns.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In some cases it just heats up coffee.
