May I recommend watching Bob Ross painting videos on low volume? It helps with my insomnia.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

#5 that's the point when I get REALLY frustrated

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Thanks OP. People just don't get it!

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

#8 one reason I hate summer as much as I do. Fucking sun won’t stay down

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

An eye mask might help. If only my puppy didn't keep murdering them.

Good sleep is sacred.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I read that as "Good sleep is scared" and thought, hmmm, makes sense.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I tried to go to my doctor for help and they gave me a pamphlet about sleep hygiene. The next time they gave another one. I have 6 now. @-@

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Wow

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a fellow insomniac, can confirm this is a solid dump

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I’m sorry stranger! Therapy has helped me get over 18 years of insomnia. Nights I can’t sleep I find peace in knowing I am resting.

How did you get a picture of me as a kid?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"jUsT gO tO sLeEp, iT's nOt tHaT hArD"

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

No caffeine 8-10 hours before desired bedtime. White noise. Blackout curtains / no light. Set a schedule for same sleep/ rise times. 1/

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

No phone or tv in bed. Sit up for those things, lying down is for sleeping. Imagine a black circle or disc. When you start thinking 2/

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

about bs that keeps you awake, back to the black circle. Featureless black circle.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I picture a burning candle

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also make sure you've eaten throughout the day. Low/no food increases norepinephrine. Also take time to do something brain numbingly boring

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

each day. Overstimulation is bad for you.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Add "no sugar or fruit juice" to that list of things to avoid 8-10 hrs before

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Only way to get to dreamland for me is to daydream. It eventually transitions over.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My brain doesn’t know how to shut up long enough to daydream

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All this makes me sad... I am fortunate I work in a company of 3 including the owner and I can come in an hour later when I need to

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

#34 all sleeping pills do is make me sleep worse, and yet my dad blames me not taking them is causing my insomnia

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

University destroyed me, I would go days without sleep stressing over exams only to do poorly because I was tired and then stress more.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That first chirp pisses me off!

3 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

"Thank god its still dark out, tho." **cat moves blackout curtains to look outside** "Fuuuuuuuuuck." **vampire hiss**

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Its the worst. And its always happens much earlier than I'm expecting it to.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Exactly! Those little….

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant I have horrible painful acid reflux that nothing works to fix I've just gotten over pneumonia but'

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Still suffering from a fucking annoying cough that makes me jolt up in bed spluttering, and i have insomnia , so life's great atm

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

No worries, when the baby comes, they sleep all the time! MUAH HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAA

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lol this is my 2nd so no

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Shit, I DONT miss trying to sleep while pregnant! It's the worst! On top of that, you are limited on the positions your allowed to sleep in.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good luck to you in your pregnancy adventures. Hope the rest of the pregnancy is easy on you

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Me yesterday: "3am, finally getting tired", some stupid bird: "how about no?"

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

GDMF birds!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ugh, currently stuck in a bad cycle. 2-3 hrs/night for the last two weeks and no signs of stopping.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Had that for more than a month. It is godawful. It gets better? I hope.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It usually goes away for me eventually but sometimes I try a reset. Force myself to stay awake for 48 hrs, dose NyQuill/Benadryl and crash.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Next/last stop is medication

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@op I dunno if you live in a weed friendly state in the US or not, but I find that an indica really helps to silence my brain.

3 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 6

What a fantastic way to develop a substance dependency. Please don’t rely on any drugs or alcohol for sleep, it just makes things worse.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 11

Not a time to be raw dogging sleep.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Someone could post their ass fell off and someone would say have you tried [insert weed strain]

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

All weed has the opposite effect on me. Super anxiety nuclear mode. All strains, all kinds. Sux, wish it mello me like others.

3 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Yup I have panic attacks. everyone tried to push it on me, it’s really frustrating…

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Same here. I would never smoke weed if I was trying to sleep. It keeps me up all night. I had a few beers last night, got 4 hrs of sleep ?

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I also have chronic nightmares and cbd and thc both make the dreams more vivid.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Interesting! THC dulls my dreams.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even edibles?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I remember the first time I just gave up trying to sleep and just did stuff.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

One summer, when my marriage was falling apart, my insomnia was so bad I learned Turkish.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Damn bro

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly what I was going to say

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've suffered from insomnia on and off the last twelve years. Currently in a bad stretch. More than a month of only managing 2-3 hrs a night

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Last few nights have been better, with 4-5 hrs. Have no trouble falling asleep, but wake up between 3-4 and then am unable to fall asleep

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Thes have been a joy, thank you.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Mine is similar. Do you sleep at all during the day?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I sometimes pass out from exhaustion. I'm lucky that I work from home (tutor), so I can take the time to do that.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If I feel I'm about to pass out, I just cancel the lesson and apologise to the student.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

NO NAPS! It will be hard but I found that if I take even a small nap during the day my body will say "welp, thats enough sleep today"

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Add tinnitus to this to increase your misery

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

I don't know how long you've had tinnitus, but I've had it for 3 years and I barely notice it now. You adjust and it gets better I promise.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That’s really good to “hear” (haha) thank you

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who has had tinnitus his entire life, fans are your friend.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s where I thought I’d start thank you

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

White noise or white noise + rain drops.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Thanks I’m trying to find a white noise machine that doesn’t have lousy reviews

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oooo- thanks so much!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yall tried audiobooks with wireless headphones in bed? Even if it's not sleep, it's comfy and restful and entertaining

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I sometimes put on a documentary of shit I have no interest in. Sometimes it helps me sleep, and sometimes I find out shit's interesting.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That used to work for me 20 years ago, now it just keeps me awake because i want to follow the story.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can't listen to a good or new story. It needs to be something boring or that you heard 100 times before

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You could listen to something a 100 times and still be drawn into the story if it's a favorite.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then you should probably not listen to your favorite book..

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

My favorite "advice" people give me - "Just go to sleep!"

3 years ago | Likes 139 Dislikes 2

"why don't you go to bed earlier?" To not lie awake in bed even longer and get even more frustrated I guess

3 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Bonus points for the one my boss told me: "go to bead when you get home from work so you are fresh in the morning to be more productive" 1/2

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

his idea was that every day was supposed to be nothing but work and trying to sleep afterwards in the name of "productivity at work".

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Wonderful person to work for/s

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Are you my mother? Because that's pretty much her one-note song.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 2

Do drugs, you square.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

gramma is that you? - "just lay in bed and close your eyes, you'll fall asleep"

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

bet you haven't even tried it smh

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Stop thinking too much!".

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That or the people that constantly ask if you have heard of sleep hygiene

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Ya and I hate me too about it, I’m taking control as much of it as I can

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeh everyone's suddenly a doctor w a list.- exercise, no caffine, no screens, go to bed early, warm milk, read book, white noise, de-stress.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

it's like "gee thanks, I've had this for 30years and never thought to try solutions!"

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Well, fuck. Why didn't I think of that??

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I used to have trouble sleeping because of Vitamin D deficiency.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Me too. Then I started getting more vitamin D. Now I know that wasn't what was causing it.

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Yaaa that vitamin D

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have some bouts of insomnia but usually I need to sleep too much. And like you'd guess, it's pretty much "well wake the fuck up!". O RLY?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I sleep 3 ish hours a night max until my body shuts down and I sleep 14. It sucks

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've found ways that work for me. Told my wife. She won't try. But she hates that I just sleep. Usually in seconds.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Normal people sleep 48h on 25mg of Quetiapine. I sleep barely 6 hours on 125mg of Quetiapine.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Wow I don’t know what that is but those are impressive numbers

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MY favorite "advices": 1. Have you tried powering through it? 2. Drink a coffee or something. 3. Go to bed earlier. I have MS with ... 1/2

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

2/2 ... moderate fatigue. I also had covid, so that doesn't help either. My brain just shuts down whenever the juice is gone.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Melatonin! Dice it, stick it in your mouth!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

DON'T SNIFF IT--

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was the first thing my doctor had me try. Had zero effect whatsoever.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does not help me. At all.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Valerian root and magnesium glycinate have helped me too.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tried valerian and puked/ found a study- women 50-64 with high cholesterol can have vomiting and nausea with valerian

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of you are on your phones, computers, games until late and are shocked when your brains won’t settle. No tech an hour before bed.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Lmao following pop science bullshit that doesn’t apply to most people.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bullshit. It's more likely people have different sleep patterns and needs of sleep. (or have some legit insomnia/health issues)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm meeting with a sleep doctor next week. Never been treated for my insomnia, but I hardly sleep

3 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

I wish you much luck. I had adverse reactions to all the sleeping pills my dr would let me try

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Insomnia sufferer here, Ambien works well for me if you play by the rules. Good luck!

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Used to have insomnia. Better now but man I miss Ambien. That stuff hits like a truck the first time you take it.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ambien made me sleep eat. I'm a fan of cannabis for my sleep woes.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cannabis for sleep is great, only thing that knocks me down for sleep. I don't get tired anymore though. Which sounds good, but really isn't

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For real, when I try to sleep without it my brain is just like... a l e r t . Here's hoping they federally decriminalize it soon.
