Decided to journal 2022 with a personal goal to learning to program in R to do some data reputation for local Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the water system that have been report by the state government. Thus far these are just basic notes of Data Frames (DF) and Comma Separated Values (CSVs). #programming #data #data_is_beautiful #computer_science #computers

Ah yes tabular data in a table structure, I know it well

"Excel for needs". Ha! No, seriously, you can do it dude!!! sorry for the tears, congrats for the project

Good work! It's amazing how things start falling into place once you start down the path of computing/programming.

I suggest doing it in python. It is just as easy, and R seems like it will phase out. but that's just my opinion
LastElf
R is still super mainstream in academic statistics for people that don't want to go down the hobbiest programmer route of Py
kjm5
I'm in particle physics and no one uses R, and more software is being written in python ever day. I've only really seem bio and economics
LastElf
My academic friends are in bio so there you go, all my stuff is powershell/C#
kjm5
Use R. And everything has been ported from R to python. So no, I don't agree it's a hobby programming language
dogbite142
So your saying R is a dying language?
kjm5
It's still used in certain corners like bio, economics. But everything in R is in python, and python has more beyond that. It's more
kjm5
Versatile IMO and will keep getting more functionality in the future
