Phonetic overlap, my ass.

Why 'correct' it when it's right?

Ah yes, that phonetic overlap. Racist and Trump sound so much alike. Similar to how 'boot' and 'razzle' sound the same. I get those mixed up all the time.

Guess it was just offering up synonyms

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The phonetic overlap is in the things coming out of the mouths of both Trump and racists

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s a feature, not a bug

Apple to Break iPhone that replace the word Trump with Racist.

5 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Awe, that was the one good thing about them

President Trump => Agent Krasnov, Trump => Traitor, ...

more Germaine to the conversation is what are the odds this is a glitch? I grew up in the south bay, generally like apple....

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Phonetic overlap. That's what they're going with...

You know? Why not? The right plays the gaslight game all the freaking time, I'm okay with this one.

5 months ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

It understands synonyms. Great!

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Someone screwed up here. That dictation app should be changing Trump to Krasnov.

«Oddly enough, our speech recognition software also replaces “Neonazi” with “Elon Musk.”»

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that anti trump? That seems to be his fans main response. E.g. "that's just trump being trump" makes sense in that context.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of all the bad lies they could make up, phonetic overlap was what they went with? There's not a single human being that believes this was the reason.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

“Phonetically” they sound the same

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is NO phenetic overlap between "racist" and "Trump."

But there IS a lot of personal overlap between "racist" and "Trump."

5 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

but they both have the letter 'r' in it ... or something

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

but when u say "trump" it does pretty much sound like "racist". just try.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Really, autocorrect? You thought I wanted phEnetic? Ugh, fine.

Yes, I'll admit that while there is no phOnetic overlap between the two, there quite assuredly is some phEnetic overlap.

Take your time with the phone as he cannot be fixed. Just impeached.

What’s wrong exactly?

Not a bug, this is a feature! 🧡

Gotta love the big fuckall water-guzzling, power munching AI "factory" in a state not well known for its plethora of water or stable power supply.

JFC.

I'm guessing a rogue engineer deliberately did this, and I'm loving it.

The embedding for the words are quite similar; aka similar connotations.

Fun story, back some years ago, I trained two ML models on (1) the clean parts of Reddit, and (2) the "controversial" parts of Reddit.

The angel model though "MAGA" was related to martial arts (Krav Maga), and devil model thought "MAGA" was related to all forms of racism.

“The embedding of the words are similar”, what does this statement mean exactly? And Since when is “embedding” a synonym for “similar connotations”?

Why would speech recognition go by embedding and while ignoring phonetics?

And if that was true why are they claiming phonetic overlap? “Speech recogntion” doesn’t just insert a different word based on context.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know why they are claiming phonetic overlap. Seems odd as they don't sound similar.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

oh. that's not a bug. that's as passive (maybe active) resistance to a fascist. someone at apple is pretty based

5 months ago | Likes 149 Dislikes 2

Resistance takes a lot of forms.

5 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Maybe. It might also just be the oversight that an MLM that was used to create their autocorrect came up with due to the words' frequent appearance together in written media.

5 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Also, once AI 'learns' something wrong, it is very hard for it to unlearn it. (Not unlike some people.)

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Hmmmm...if only we can turn the corporations and the fascists against each other.

5 months ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

The trick is to pick and empower the corporations that would see decline under the fascists. The only way they maintain their power is if all economic interests are made to align with theirs, therefore, do your best to diversify the economy. Mega magnate #1 can't get alliances to get a fascism going if mega magnate #2-3-4-5 see no benefit in such a thing.

But, but they're in love.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They're the same thing.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not a bug, that's a feature. Ticket closed.

I remember when Microsoft Word would offer "I'll drink to that" as a spelling correction option if you typed in "I'd like Bill Clinton to resign."
I don't remember hearing any conservatives complaining about that.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seems like it was working correctly.

5 months ago | Likes 193 Dislikes 3

Are you sure? Looks more like someone installed it backwards to me...

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly? I'm guessing "Trump" and "Racist" probably fully align in most vector spaces...

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Maybe the AI is better than we thought

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just like the software that kept flagging RWNJs' (GOP politicians) comments as hate speech for moderation.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe those R's shouldn't have been posting hate speech if they didn't want to get flagged for it.
