I'm trying to get disability now but without an official diagnosis it'll be hard. I hope my autism, anxiety, depression and ADHD will help but I've heard that people on the spectrum struggle to get disability so I don't have much hope. This might be it. Thanks for everything imgur, it was fun while it lasted.

There's a whole community of people applying for, or living on disability on reddit; https://old.reddit.com/r/disability/

A good place for support, advice, and commiseration.

Tip: almost everyone gets denied their first time; don't take it personally. Appeal the decision. Local Mental Health clinic has a Benefits Dept, free social worker who helps people quality for benefits. Local Legal Aid clinic also may do it, free.

Good luck, i got on disability after my therapist convinced me to do so, i have very similar issues to you, and while i hate having to admit i need the help, it's probably better than being homeless.
Idk what country you're in, but im in Canada, and the qualifiers around mental illness are mostly based on whether they will still be an issue in 6 months, and to what degree it interferes with vital functions. My advice is do not sugar coat or play anything off, be brutally honest. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat mentally except with PTSD as well. Sometimes even a small setback can seem like the end of the world, so when huge things like this come along, it can feel like literal hell. But it almost always gets better. Plus, you have someone to talk to about it. Do that. I'm being a bit hypocritical since I only talk a bit about my issues to the person I'm talking to, but that's mainly cause I don't wanna scare them off, lol, but it really is important to talk to someone. Also 1/2

Someone already posted all the resources I'd suggest, but while you're already talking to them, I'd also ask your SO if they have any ideas on what to do. Them seeing things from a different angle might help. 2/2

Since you haven't been fired (yet), go to https://www.modestneeds.org/index.asp. They can help with a grant.

I looked at some of your previous posts and it appears you have gotten married recently? This person is not only part of your life now but you are part of hers now as well. You both need to sit down and work out a plan and she can help you stay on it. If you need a different job, then find a different job as it sounds like you are not happy with the one you have, but find a job that is healthy for you. Your wife knows what you like and don't like and can help you figure these things out

10 hours ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

She's been my rock. We aren't married yet but are pretty much married. I've been on the job search way before I lost this job so trying my best to make money on the side, with doordash

9 hours ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Kinda similar. 23 years working like a horse. Had to give notice because massive burnout and depression. Couldn't find 50% job in this economy. Broke my hip soon after. Spent savings on medical bills. That was 1+1/2 year ago. Applied for disability based on autism Dx and other stuff, but that takes over a year to resolve. Need to find a new place to live, but ain't got no money now. If I didn't have my SSRIs, I'd not even be writing this.
Hope your situation improves.

Where I live I found it better to ask specific pharmacies what their "discount" plan is. Found it was cheaper than trying to use goodrx. Also always ask for generic. Not name brand.

My wife is on disability. This is the advice she gives everyone and has helped many friends and family. You're going to be denied the first time but didn't give up. File an appeal. Each time you're denied, file another. Also contact your representative and let them know what's up. If you leave a message, make sure that you request a response. Their call to disability on your behalf will make a ton of difference in moving your review up. Most of all, keep fighting!

Such a poor system. We are lucky in our province, you go to your ocGP doctor with the form where they assess your ability/disability, that goes to provincial program and you get your federal and provincial disability status. Dr just has to show your life is affected

6 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is a shit system. You're absolutely correct. They're so afraid that people will take advantage of the system they make it impossible. Never mind that we all pay into it here.

If you’re in USA, step 1 is: apply for unemployment benefits.

Use this website to lookup your state’s details.

This website is legit (approved by Department of Labor).

Is there anyone that do a list of equivalents in each country, would be a useful tool maybe

8 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Mexico does through the IMSS. Legislation has constantly upgraded access to all those thorough the last decade or so.

6 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Probably too much work since there's so many countries and there can be differences inside the countries themselves, but it would always help to mention the country where op is from so any commenters from there could pitch in what they know of the local systems.

8 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yep. Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories and each one of them has different services and phone numbers.

I have no experience couldn't get a job in IT if I wanted to

10 hours ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Don't worry, according to RFK Jr. you will never have to pay taxes.

Based on most of my interactions with IT, if you had any more experience than that you'd be overqualified.

I literally work in software and have the exact same thought so youre halfway there

7 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's the spirit! Get yourself some free training online and get CompTIA A+ certification, while driving for Uber which I realize is shit money but shit money is better than no money.

9 hours ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

I'm actually doordashing not much better lol but I'll look into it.

9 hours ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Did the doordashing and ubereats thing, too, but the uber-people has the big advantage the cargo is self-loading and unloading and they're easier to find and they know where to drop themselves off! None of them ever asked can you make sure my wife kisses me goodbye and make sure I bring snack!

9 hours ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I'm tryna is Uber and for dash the one I found that pays best least in my area is insta cart. Least they don't randomly doing orders at you and let you see how much you can make and how far it is before picking up the order. On a average day I can make around 35/hr and due to my back issues I only can run it for 3 to 4 hrs daily. It's nice but vs can be annoying since you shop for ppl and some stores just suck.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Instacart has a wait list here. I presume you mean it pays best where you are. I'm also looking at Amazon Flex (pays well, also waiting list) and Waiter on the Way.

20 minutes ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you a bot? This person said they couldn’t get a job in IT if they want and you told them “That’s the spirit”

8 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

They encouraged them to get free education and certification while working another job. That's not bot behavior.

7 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Sometimes you can only counter unmitigated defeatism with absurd sarcastic optimism. And clearly that account is not a bot.

7 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's called sarcasm. I understand declining mental health is at play here but you have to respond to a defeatist attitude somehow. Sometimes people miss the mark, sometimes it works. The important part of the response is sound enough though.

8 hours ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Also, we all have imposter syndrome in IT LOL, was where i was going with that.
