I wanted to minimize my post text but your point was something I noticed big time. He has such low empathy. Anyone would laugh so they do. And instead of identifying with them .. which would create a better relationship .. he criticizes them (by pointing). Why? Because they didn't instantly identify with HIM first.
When there is someone who has a different idea, different background or some other barrier to relationship, someone has to go first. Someone must be vulnerable. He isn't = He loses.

Only speaking for myself and my own opinion using possibilities. I wouldn't know without him talking for long hours in the opposite chair while I listen genuinely and empathically. Even then I wouldn't necessarily be 100% - people are very skilled at convincingly lying to themselves. Lying to others is then a cakewalk.

So it turns out the guy has bias towards gender/sexual issues. Maybe racial bias is just a side gig. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just kidding. It was OBVIOUSLY a verbal slip up and a funny one if not such a serious topic. I do love dark humor though. There's darker examples but this is pretty rich.
