This is my 2nd year teaching at a university over the summer. It’s a lot of fun and challenge. I don’t drive to work I go to the light rail then go up. The problem is the walk to the school, walking around the classroom and getting back have made my legs feel like concrete!

I’m an avid runner and I’m still getting my butt kicked. I need to do more stretching exercises…anyone got recommendations?

I dunno if Imgur is the place for healthy recommendations but I'm rooting for you here in the comments...

Sounds like you need better shoes.

Roll and massage. If you run a bunch and you aren't doing these things you need to.

oh I hate that. when your legs just can't get back to normal. they need like an entire month off when that happens. use a segway. or some heely's or roller skates. or even those shoes that are built in skates. they have small skate and big skate shoes. that detatch the skate part and you put in your back pack. you could just roller blade the longer distances. But I think heelys is your solution.

Inclines? And standing is totally diff from running so you may want shoes that have a curved bottom so you're not resting back on your heels and hips

different shoes perhaps?

That was my thought, or some type of supportive insert for existing shoes. My feet and legs did not cope well when I started my first on-your-feet all day job, didn't feel better until I switched to better footwear.

I like the supportive inserts idea

I can’t live without my gel insoles. I’ve been using them for years. Spent 5 years in my late 60s working outdoors, walking miles a day and they saved my life.

I took your advice and bought some gel inserts. Today was the first day either them and they worked well! Thank you.

You’re welcome. I just bought a second pair for some other shoes. I got tired of swapping them out all the time.
I should probably get a finders fee. ;-)

Walking uses your leg muscles in a different way from running. You probably need different shoes, and your legs need rest. Can you maybe find a way to get to work with less walking a couple of days a week until your busy adjusts?

When I went back to in-person teaching (after pandemic) I was shocked at how much my legs were sore. Maybe learn to sit on a high table 1/?
