There's a level of hypocrisy to telling people "just swipe next" when you can do exactly the same. In the name of proving your point, we will be conducting a social experiment here.

I am going to tag this with every conceivable tag that every rage monger should have blocked if such a topic were truly detestable to them. For all intents and purposes, there should not be a single negative comment pertaining to the existence of a post berating propaganda.

Unless, of course, certain people were willing to admit that they do not WANT to simply scroll past, they do not WANT to block these particular undesirable tags, but instead they WANT to be perpetually upset and they WANT to voice their minds.

Please, for the love of all things sentient, tag your political slop. It's not difficult. I'm not asking much. Taking offense to this is theater in fragility. Not everyone lives in America, not everyone wants to see his face every other post, we have better sources of actual unbiased news and other significantly more entertaining and engaging sources of this information.

Some of us come here to escape reality for an hour. Wanting to see memes and pictures of cats is not "choosing a side". The mute list is only allowed to be so long and no one should be forced to mute triple digits to achieve several minutes of bipartisan silence for a week before a new wave of accounts pop out of thin air without a hint of suspicion from the masses and the process starts all over. We ask to be left out of it, some are upset that they wouldn't be able to drag us into it.

If you made it this far and are about to leave a comment berating the narrative here, I implore you to take your own advice and just "swipe next". Otherwise, you hereby admit that you reserve the right to state an opinion in the same way others do. If you don't care about your own logic, why should anyone else?

Let me be clear: I am not telling you not to leave a derogatory comment, I am telling you that if you do, you FULLY understand why others voice out about it but you just don't care about anyone other than yourself and your own rhetoric. A narcissist by definition.

I purposefully block absolutely nothing. But I also am a frequent complainer about people not tagging their shit, not because it'll make an iota of difference to me, but because it's easy and helps people that don't want to see it.

Though it is sad when anything happens in the world, if I want to find cute pictures of animals or cosplay to share with my kids I have to go to freaking Reddit.

I think your post operates under a false assumption that those whose views you object to block tags the way others block political tags.

Tags are, by my math, about 7000 times less useful than blocking. Even so, I do appreciate the comprehensive tagging.

A couple mods finally blocked a bunch of groups and shit on their end that aren't covered by the tags. There's still always new bots though to be blocked and then some of the major ones will cycle off my block list. I'm usually here maybe ten minutes though now before running out or just saying fuck it

I get you. I tried to explain in another post that I'm just here for the memes and not US politics and got fucking REAMED with comments about how America is "the most important country in the world" and that I should care more about it. The fact that I'm just here for the memes seems to be irrelevant to these people. So thank you for calling them out!

I don't think your interpretation is fair as far as their meaning.

Question: do you think human rights are political?

You should tag your political posts. /s

why would anyone have these blocked?

Doing my best to avoid being a hypocrite and imgur only allows 5 tags for whatever reason.

I am not merely venting, I am *bitching*, no doubt about it.

Right? They're really not that common.

People can be quite petty.

I'm confused, are these two separate posts or do you have multiple personalities?
It's really not hard to tag something politics and it's also not that hard to scroll to something else.
I enjoy seeing stuff I wouldn't select for myself and certainly think it's interesting to see news from other people's point of view.

There are people on imgur that argue they should *not* tag their political posts as politics, because they don't believe they *should* be blocked by anyone. They describe people who do so as "sticking their heads in the sand", and describe their untagged posts as doing a service, trying to "wake us up" from our supposed apathy towards the collapse of democracy.

Well, that sounds like something Trump would say. "My opinion is so important that it has to reach everyone, and I don't care if they want it or not."

Part of the problem, from what I have seen, is also that there are genuinely right wing content bots pushing the narrative of “just ignore all politics, focus only on your life and living it” online as a disenfranchisement tactic. This, in turn, can make people heavily overreact to posts that aren’t by bots but appear to be feeding that narrative. But there are ALSO just shitty people out there who think everyone should always listen to them, and it can be hard to tell them apart sometimes

Yes I get that, it's just there seems to be diametrically opposed opinions in the same post.
It's probably just me.

My point is that "you can just scroll past" is hypocritical by its very nature.

In every political post there's at least one 'please tag this' followed by the inevitable tide of "just scroll past" and no one catches the hypocrisy in that retort. People will literally scroll down to the bad comments, putting in that effort, JUST to find it and make that tasteless, apathetic, snide, sanctimonious, ostentatious remark and it just bothers me to my core.

Easy enough to tag the post I agree.
Don't think it's quite as big a deal though to scroll past.
I mean there are hundreds of things that I scroll past that aren't political?
Do you look at every post ?
I might look at every third one sometimes less.
I certainly don't mind marking things as political, until I noticed someone raging about it I honestly didn't think it would be an issue.
Is there anything else you think should be tagged?
