I didn't realize that when you did it like a boss that you get your own background music as well.

Anyone else have Calculus flashbacks when they saw the triangular shapes being cut to fit a round a circular object or is that just me?

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I do! I studied those stuff at school and nowadays I couldn't use them ๐Ÿคก

I spent a couple months building road crates for an entertainment rental supplier and my favourite part was gluing in the automotive carpet lining. There were some cool tricks like this to get in all the corners.

The word you're looking for is 'pro' - not boss.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, also pro.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've seen how he did it, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't replicate that quality.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a floor layer, this is not magic. As a fresh journeyman, I did hot cuts with 1/8 inch tile for a week at a shopping mall build. I wish I had such an easy task as this.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

remember kids, there is no such thing as unskilled labour

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

I hope he didn't cut both layers when he folded them over

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

We can't see from here.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

you can feel when the blade goes from the tough backing into the pile below, where it doesn't really do any damage, well before it reaches the backing underneath the bottom layer.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think itโ€™s okay, even though we canโ€™t see- that blade looks sharp so it probably cuts juuuust right.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

and then you try to do the same and cut thought both layers or slice through the other piece while cutting the round part.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Me too but I guess he knows exactly the carpet's thickness. That's why!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice. I'm floored.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Works well with ceramics too.

I enjoy watching people who are good at their job. Except those annoying ice cream people who pull the cone away. Once is okay, after that I won't enjoy the ice cream any more.

2 years ago | Likes 217 Dislikes 3

At least you would be polite declining. I would throw it on the floor.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Yeah even once would be too much for me, Iโ€™d just leave. Maybe walk past later with an ice cream I bought somewhere else.

2 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Damn thats satisfying.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Genius.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is the way.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like carpet Tile, but these are super thin. Can it still be considered Tile is it is as thin as denim?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I guess it considered carpet because of the function and the materia it is made of.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In this configuration the are akchtually called carpet tiles. Tiles as in they are square.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The tiles might be just a modern way to use carpet, who knows...

Okay, this dude is my hero and I want to study his ways. I don't have a damn thing to do with flooring installs but this fella clearly knows his business.

You reached for the stars and grabbed with glee. I respect that comment

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The key here seems to be making all cuts parallel to the sides of that square. Notice he always cuts in a straight line towards himself, never at an angle.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Homie, he's just slicing it so that he can bend it around the curve. A circle is just a polygon with infinite sides.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I don't think that matters as the important part is where the cut is started, not where it ends up. I think he just cuts straight towards himself because it's easier than cutting at an odd angle where you're more likely to slip.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Agreed. The efficiency is in cutting toward himself, not for safety but for cyclical strength.
