If i recall correctly, they had been asked politely not to fly the drone because (a) it's over people which is a big no no, and (b) it was a medieval fair and was thus distracting, but they then completely ignored the request, so it got speared. I've seen videos from the ground where everyone is cheering, so seems like a death by general consensus as opposed to one person just deciding to destroy it.
