Rest of the world that doesn’t have school shootings as a feature and not a bug: “No”
Don’t get me wrong, there is a very real problem of social media radicalizing young people. From the manosphere telling young men they need to emulate the 40s sexism, to beauty influencers diet shaming young women into malnutrition, the algorithms are working really well for the worst elements in our society. I am all for slapping some regulations and limits on the tech companies, but this seems like a misguided attempt and it will not help in a meaningful way.
Tech companies are going to lean on the same logic, this is a US problem not a global problem. I’m not gonna say the words but we have a metric fuck ton of something other industrialized don’t. Yes, I am extremely aware this is a very unpopular opinion but what can I say, I look forward to my nephew and niece coming home from school and not praying every time a news report breaks about schools.
I am scanning that post for the “we have a mental illness crisis in America” comment. That’s a new one that the RW loves to bring out like a Uno Reverse card.

Morally? Absolutely!
Legally, in this clownshoes legal system? Not a chance.

w/o the same ready access to guns in other countries, what data do you compare?
johnxbear
That settles it. Other countries need rampant firearm possession. Only way we will ever know.

The data to compare is
- access to guns
- documented mental health cases
- something else that escapes me rn to give a 3rd data line on a chart.

w/o the same ready access to mental health evaluations in the US, what data do you compare?

Kind of the point

they're going to have a hard time with this case against 4chan. All of the arguments they put forward about why all the other social media sites are bad basically exonerates 4chan. The problem with 4chan is the garbage user base and section 230 pretty much gives the site a free pass. If this case wins against the AI driven sites and 4chan, together they'll functionally cripple all social media sites. Which wouldn't be something awful. No one would be pushing anyone down stairs.

4chan isn't all encompassing, that's the same as saying reddit. every section is drastically different and drastic different user base. the "garbage user base" is definitely containment boards like pol and b
It's the same as facebook private groups etc, there are tons of illegal gun sales on facebook, more than any platform ever to exist. Groups with thousands of users that trade and sell guns all over.
KR1570F
does any board on 4chan require you to have a login or use algorithms to serve you content the website thinks you'll like based on your unique visiting and engagement history?
HzZbVYAx77aoiuN9Zy
no but you said "4chan is the garbage user base" that isn't all of its users. It also has the largest origami board that exists as well as many other boards with nice users

Do you want to know all the logical errors I can find your comment? I don't really feel like breaking it down if you're not interested. You made a few category errors and assumed some premises. I'll concede that I wasn't as clear as I could have been but you completely missed the thesis of statement and went chasing a squirrel away from the conversation. You don't seem like a troll that just intentionally took the comment wrong to pretend to be dumb.

none, I just told you what I was replying to, read it and become less confused.
