In lieu of using a tiling WM....Xfce packed tightly.

The 4 markdown editors I use now (each has its own strengths and weaknesses, so I want all 4): ghostwriter, Mousepad, Typora, and my favorite Mark Text.
If one opens programs in the same order every day, they will only need to be resized and put in place that first time. Mousepad and Mark Text have tabs if you open files in that program (vs. from a file manager such as Thunar) and tabs help greatly to squeeze more stuff into a tiny, pre-ordered space.
On the top panel, in the upper right hand corner, you'll see where I can click on my 2nd workspace, but it saves my poor clicking finger if i use the mouse scroll wheel to do that and that is why i left that black space between the 2 windows at top. I can also use the keyboard to switch workspaces.
Ignore the notes in Typora - those aren't my thoughts, but things I need to look into.

Isn't the point of Linux to not need to reopen programs every day? Just leave your machine up all the time, in sleep mode when you sleep.

no, Mr. Kaizen-kun. no. Its about an ideology...

Well, vim is the wrong ideology.
