Stolen from Reddit but thought you could use this as Comcast is the devil. Edit typing - Should say “don’t tell them you need to cancel”. Edit: most viral. Wow! Premature maybe but send boobs :). Won’t be the first time I was premature with boobs involved. :)

Can confirm, this works!

Ours dropped signal randomly every other day. We got out of our contract by threatening to sue for nonperformance.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

as shit as comcast is, when I had them I always managed to get a discount on my annual contract once the rates went up.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you're gonna get charged like 2 months worth of your current contract in changing your contract though.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Most likely cheaper than an early termination fee though.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I went in to specifically change to a no contract plan. Metronet was installed and I went to cancel Comcast only to find out those 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

bastards put me in a year long contract anyways.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One point he missed, you have to change to a more expensive contract, otherwise you get hit with a fee.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Except that you have to buy out your contract...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I set a yearly reminder to call to cancel just b4 my contract is up, then they always give me discounts or free HBO and stuff to keep me

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Tell them you moved it are moving to Dallas. They aren't in Dallas, easiest cancellation ever.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have comcast, and I haven't had any problems with them. Every year, when my special deal is up, I always call them up to find a better /1

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

cheaper deal. Never had a problem doing that. I have cable and internet with them now. But I only use the internet.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"don't tell them you to cancel !."

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

don't tell them you to cancel !.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This doesn't work. I used to work for their billing dep. Even when you change plans, the csr has a tab that shows contracts when you call.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No joke: i once told Verizon i was dead to get them to cancel my contact. And it worked!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not all heroes wear capes. Although a raccoon in a cape would be adorable.

HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The last one i saw turned to ashes.b

Like Nibbler!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No one's posted the coon

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. But have you ever TRIED to get a raccoon in a cape? It is NOT easy

v

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You won.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That’s not a raccoon, it’s a rabbit!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A sweet rabbit, at that.

Last time I signed a 1 year contract with Comcast, they still increased my payment. Seems illegal, but they're the best ISP I can get.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tell them you're moving to another country.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I found At&t is worse

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I agree. Just had to call them and complain again. Probably going to write to attorney general about it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure if that will do anything, but I think what they're doing is illegal.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they own direct TV now... they hiked the price >: |

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And destroyed an excellent company. DTV is trash now.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dont even get me started. took 20 years to get my dead dad off as primary. And then when i saw his nane again i deleted it and it got locked

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is it true that telecom companies gain monopolies in regions in the US?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They do. There are like two cable companies to choose from in each state. They basically decide between themselves who gets what territory.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s not right. So much for competition.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. They actually get together and decide which territory they each want and carve up the US like pie. It sounds like a conspiracy but...

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s not right.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

what, that they divvy up territories amongst themselves? You damn right it is.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m believe you. I might morally, that’s not right.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For cable TV/Internet, a region will usually only have one choice. There's only one coax cable to the house, not sure how else it would work

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn. I count myself lucky that here in the uk/Ireland we’re small enough to have competition.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So how does it work? Do you have multiple cables into your house, or do you get to decide even with one?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We can separate our tv, broadband and landline phones if we want. Companies offer packages, but you aren’t forced into them. For example,

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

for a a while we had Sky TV and phones, but without the movie or sport packages, and our internet was provided by the post office.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well this will last about a day before they figure it out

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Already fixed, this is why you don't share loopholes

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seeeeeee

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I am fully aware of how lucky I am to live someplace where there are not one, but TWO alternatives to Comcast. (AT&T & WOW)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cancelled all TV over 10 yrs ago. Last Century's marvel. I don't miss it one bit. Saved almost $12K!!!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I read that 4 times and I still don’t understand what the hell its saying

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Trying to type on the app for this men. It was difficult at best and didn’t have my glasses. Getting old sucks

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

I can read the text just fine, but what's stopping people from saying they're not continuing be a customer from next month?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

contracts.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And americans are all in these forever conteacts? Makes no sense.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

so many of them are. it's ridiculous.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's evil. I like it!

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Tell them you've moved to a city they don't service. I've done it twice!

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Use this website to make your case look more legit, you can look up providers by address. https://www.smartmove.us

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

protip: San Marcos, Texas does not have comcast. i don't think Dallas does either.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't had a contract with them ever and I still can't cancel. They hang up on me every time and then it's 2 hours of phone loops again.

6 years ago | Likes 336 Dislikes 4

If they really make it that obtuse cant you just send them a cease and decist letter?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

[Laughs in European]

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Höhöhöhö!

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Bypass the automated phone systems and use the MyAccount app Comcast has to have them call you. You can even write what it's about.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My contract expired and I switched companies. I emailed through a form, then they called me three next day and I was just very clear that I

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Wanted to stop all services. They said they'd send a check for the proration. I them asked them to cancel my auto bill land they sent me an

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Email to confirm they would. It was actually pretty easy.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Take your equipment into a physical store and cancel. They ask you why, say different service, they give you your receipt of turn in, gtfo.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tell them you’re moving. I had to do that once.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Stop payment.

6 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 3

Good idea in theory. In practice they just defer to bill collectors and continue charging.

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Happened when my uncle died a few years ago. Thousands of dollars racked up long after he died.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I cancelled completely online with their Live Chat or whatever. They didn’t ask why, just got it done and it took 15 minutes. It was great!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Send them certified mail, keep a copy. If they still don't cancel, you are under no legal obligation at that point to pay anything but -

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

- cancellation fees. NOTE: they usually work sizeable cancellation fees into a contract for this reason.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is there a store near you ?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We had a CenturyLink Employee out installing our Fiber and he used to work for Comcast, gave us great advice...If you want to cancel easily

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Just call them and tell them you are moving to an area that they dont cover and need to cancel your service.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

How about just tell them to cancel your service, and not have your country being run by pirates, like any other developed country?

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that certainly would be ideal. If I had my way, any company that pulled stuff like this would just be burned to the ground.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tell them you're moving and need to get services changed to new address... (make sure new address does not have Comcast availability)

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I said Afghanistan and they bought it

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

This is the kind of shit I read comments for

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My pleasure.. it was fun listening to the light fade from their souls when they realized I was free!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's how I got out of a gym membership. I had a bill that went to my parents' house, which was in the middle of nowhere. Used that.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do a chargeback on your card. You made a reasonable attempt to contact them and that's all you need to win a chargeback in that instance.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Regarding OP: Tried, errors-out 100% of the time I've clicked on it.

6 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Like I said I stole it from reddit. Perhaps posting in life hacks Reddit sub ? Where I stole it from

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Try a different browser

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There are still sites around that ONLY work with Internet Explorer. I my boss partners with one company that is like that.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think the website is partially down. I can't get monthly statements/outstanding balance to show up on mine

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Write them, or send a paper final payment. In that final payment, note you are stopping service on X date. Keep a photo copy of the letter.

6 years ago | Likes 224 Dislikes 0

And make sure the letter has a tracking number for proof of delivery.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep, certified delivery is worth the extra dollar in this case!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best idea so far. Thanks.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Failure to terminate service / stop billing on your date (when out of contract) is a no no and can result in a hefty fine from the FCC. =D

6 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 2

You're assuming the FCC cares and isn't corrupt.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

shit pie wont be the chairman forever.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Tell them you’re moving in with a roommate that already has a contract with them.

6 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 3

Or moving somewhere that they do not cover.

6 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

I was told last month that they no longer take that into consideration when I moved out of their area

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I did that. Said I was moving to China. Worked perfectly and my parents thought it was hilarious.

6 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Me too!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cable Company contracts are not worth the paper they are written on, as a former employee of a Cable Company, there are ways to get out.

6 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 3

As a current cable company employee, we have no contracts period.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can I not just refuse to pay if there's no standing contract?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 0

Step 1 Fake your own death

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Example: When your contract was signed, it was for agreed upon that you would receive said networks, have those networks changed?

6 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In most cases it has, networks change ALL the time. If so, by law you can walk on a contract.

6 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Worried about cancellation fees? the FCC has ruled that if you received no Voucher / Discount for any equipment required to be purchase...

6 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

This info is gold. Post ur own how to

6 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

the maximum cancellation fee is $50, if you received a discount then it's 10% of what the remainder of the contract would be.
