I love my players, but man, are they dense sometimes...

Cat tax. Kateri is not amused by their shenanigans.

it's not that we don't see the easy solution, we just assume the easy solution is an obvious trap

Are they dense or are the puzzles too simple so they think there must be more to it?

But also, sometimes it's not even puzzles. i.e. shooting a crossbow at a monk during a negotiation and almost getting killed as a result.

Unlocked closed doors are the worst. They can take up a solid 30 minutes.

I've got a fun player in my campaign who's made it his solemn duty to try to break down EVERY door they encounter. ?

It's already gotten him almost killed when his hammer broke on a nat 1 and nailed him in the chest... While he was at 6hp after combat.

He also spent hours punching the metal grate above the cargo hold of a ship. Love the energy, love the commitment, but wow.

Drenathar
Oh I know! I do the exact same thing as a player ? Besides, the straightforward solution is rarely the most interesting.

If I had a gold for every time I've thought "There's no way it's that simple" and therefore ignored the solution, I'd be rolling in gold.
