This is basically 'what happened offscreen' during a scene from the actual show. The guy who attacked him was basically only there for Hunter (going by 'Caleb' in the last comic to hide his identity). When Hunter stood up for himself and sacrificed himself to protect his friends, Darius (the attacker) was pleased, and basically let him go. There's a lot more detail in the show itself (which is worth watching), but that's the basics.
