housing market is waaay too high already, i'm glad i finally bought a house last summer, shit is about to get even more expensive when the framers, concrete, drywallers, roofers, painters, excavators, electricians and plumbers all of a sudden can't complete jobs due to not having enough workers and the market skyrockets again like it did with covid.

With that logic then literally everyone is an immigrant apart from maybe some Africans depending on where humanity started. Indigenous usually refers to a people being there for shit loads of generations so no one will consider Native Americans as immigrants, especially since they’re been there for 12-30 thousand years.

Yes, but those first people wouldn't be called immigrants, as that only applies to people who move into an existing country. Those first people were pioneers. As they went out into unclaimed lands and claimed them. There is a difference between the two.

Migrants may be the better term than immigrants, although if you get to that "into an existing country" distinction, than many of the colonialists technically weren't immigrants, since they didn't move into the existing Native American tribes, but took land and started their own states of sort. They weren't immigrants, they were invaders.
