Hoop water soluble stabilizer, pin felt to it.

Stitch around the outline of the patch, just inside the width of the patch after you add the satin stitch. You’ll cut around the sewn felt like an appliqué.

Stitch out the main body of the patch. Here you can see I’ve started the satin stitch along the edge of the top left patch.

Close up, showing the contour underlay of the satin patch. The satin stitching extends just outside the main body of the patch.

Close up of the finished satin edge. The “Ultra Solvy” stabilizer I use holds up well enough that the patch doesn’t move. The satin edge is a decent replacement for a merrow machine over locked edge.
