Remember, kids: "republican" in 1934 was verrrrry different than "republican" today. The republicans filled the left progressive role, such as it was - workers rights, equality (for some at least), and so on. The democrats were white, southern, and racist.

The parties swapped roles right around the great depression of 1929, but it took ages for terminology to reflect that change.

I went and picked up a puppy from a friend who lives in Boise. Very nice drive coming from Sacramento, and I even got caught in a blizzard which I loved as I don't get to see snow often. I know it's a very nazi heavy state but I enjoyed my time there.
