"Hi, little fella. Looks like I've picked up another rock friend that my operations team has named Dwayne.

My wheels pick up rocks from time to time. They're harmless and will eventually fall out as I drive around.

Until then, it’s nice to have a companion with me."

I'm rooting for Dwayne

I hope in the future when we send manned missions to Mars, this rock is found, stored, and documented as Dwayne.

Didn't this happen a few years ago too? I remember there being mention of the rover losing it's friend/companion or something to that effect.

yea its happened before, the only downside is the increased wear on that wheek.

That's for clarifying. For a minute I thought I was somehow having memories from the future! i'm fairly certain the news also made it here too.

The beginnings of Terraforming! Maybe it will be ready when we get there.

1 year ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

There is no terraforming Mars. It can no longer sustain an appreciable atmosphere.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Terraforming could include artificial atmospheres

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Without a magnetosphere, any attempts at an atmosphere will be ripped away by cosmic winds.

Domes and underground cities laugh at your pathetic atmosphere

Rovers don't go near where life might be for fear of contaminating said life; so they're actively avoiding the most probable sites.

they are litterally doing the opposite. they are trying to find signs of life with these missions. they take steps to keep the rover sterile. https://mars.nasa.gov/files/mars2020/FINAL-Mars-2020-Bio-Cleanliness.pdf
