MRW someone says I should use my platform to address the MediaLab thing when I've already posted almost 70 times trying to flood the servers with Intergalactic Quality pixels.

Best I can do is blackjack and hookers. (You're doing the lords work, keep it up)

I'll ask for half of what they're asking! And produce half a fraction of the quality of work! Especially on half an 8 ball and a million dollars ;)

I'm the someone, and it's really not clear what effect, if any, the floods are having.

At least the "Fuck you, Business Daddy" wall to wall posts called out MediaLab directly in each one, and clearly disrupted normal content posting.

Your posting could be mistaken for "back to normal" posting @OP

Geez kid, just say thank you and enjoy the ride. Go for a walk.

People can't seem to agree what the purpose is of the "protest". I've seen some say that advertisers wouldn't want their content seen next to nudity, others say flooding the servers will crash them, you're the first one I see implying that normal content posting is also a goal.

To be honest, most posters just seem to be happy to be publicly horny and thirsty and to have an excuse to objectify women.

I agree the protests are kinda scattershot, but we're a pretty eclectic community. Imgur has a large queer community, and there are fewer and fewer of those left on the internet, so yeah they're pretty happy to be publicly horny and thirsty. What comes across as objectification may just be sexualization.

We're the social media platform where even the people who aren't into softcore cartoon horse porn defend the softcore horseporn enthusiast's right to post softcore cartoon horse porn.

Nope, most what I saw today, and have been seeing here is mostly about reducing the female body down to sexual appeal (objectification).

I am also a part of this platform, and will not be defending anyone's privilege (not a right) to post horse porn (based on a kids' show) here.

To be clear: when the majority of posts about women portray them in sexual way, it creates a narrative: this is what women are valued for here. Even on a regular day, posts about women's achievements and perspectives can be drowned out by sexualised content. The implicit message is that those qualities are not as worthy.

It's a bit like the Bechdel test: you can't blame one post for not passing it, but if the majority of them don't, it tells you something about the site you're on.
