MRW when a professor asks me to take down a program I wrote 3 years go so that they can publish it themselves

Out of the blue, a former professor of mine emails me, requesting that I take down a program I wrote for their class 3 years ago. Apparently their new student has made a working version, and they want to publish a paper on it. I politely told them that I'm not taking it down, but they're free to cite my work if it was useful to them.

Good for you! Most people lack the testicular fortitude to stand up for themselves.

If it's built on yours rather than on your ideas then you should get authorship too

See, that's how it should be done. Stand on the pile of bodies of slackers to see farther.
