Need help with ID of tooth

Got it from a guy who had it for ~15 years who said he got it from a guy out in California. No documentation for it however he said it was a Smilodon tooth. Would love for help confirming if in fact it is or if it's something else or if there is a way to actually find out more about it maybe through DNA testing or something...

At the top seems to be the only part left of the outermost part of the tooth.

Most of what you see is the dentin(?) I think, the only part that still has enamel is towards the end (dark smokey yellow) I'm guessing

Seems pointy, so likely a predator. Seems long, so a big one. Maybe a bear?
