I took up an electronics hobby this year, after a VERY LONG TIME since I last did any soldering. I can't read the bands anymore. My eyesight is just too bad to tell the difference between the red and the brown or even the orange, depending on the light and what other color bands are there. So its good I have a little component tester that I quickly check my parts on before I use them.

What’s crazy is, folks who mess with circuitry for a living will just know resistor values at a glance. My Dad could complete this test as quickly as one where you find stop signs, and it is intimidating as HELL to grow up seeing things like that daily.
