I think my dad would have watched this on repeat for half an hour, then show it to his friends all like; now this is how I try to tell my son to do it but he keeps turning the steering wheel the wrong way.

It’s the flames on the hood. Even better than a racing stripe to go fast.

Look at the cab. That's Optimus Prime. Of COURSE he nailed it. (Also, it's a video game.)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Trucker here. Easy when you know your rig. Used to do that everyday, but blindside, when I was hauling reefers. Was know as Mr Blindside.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That driver is a PROFESSIONAL

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Your Dad and My Dad would have had more than a few beers together talking about us I fear...

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well I'd expect nothing less from Optimus prime

Looks like a solid roll out

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Not his/her first rodeo

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Wouldn't these spin-in-place maneuvers excessively wear rear trailer tires, on one spot of their threads?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or, if there is enough weight in the trailer, pop them off the bead.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One turn isn't going to cause massive wear, and each turn would be on a different spot. Could possibly cause other damage though.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe, but these are digital tires so they can handle it.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah but, can he parallel park that truck and trailer?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's Optimus Prime, of course he's fucking good at it

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Both my brothers drive trucks like this. I hope there better at their rigs than smaller vehicles. And they’re good at that lol

Literally me about a week ago trying to get a couch into and elevator. FAIL. Had to use the stairwell. Fortunately only one floor down.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Optimus has some skills.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then there's this guy

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No one's parking that. Optimus Prime doing his normal Monday coffee break.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a simulation

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

This one is real tho

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This turned me on. Gave me a semi

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TRUCK YEAH!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pivot, pivot… pivot!

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

As the driver of a 9 car hauler, the radius makes me so jelly.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

As a trucker over here in Europe, I'd get shouted at for pulling that kind of turn, it'd chew up the trailer tyres something nasty.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am not a truck driver but my first thought was that 'that will fuck up the tires'

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gatdang, he did all that with a super sleeper and a refer.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a hard time doing that with my sedan. I am backing challenged.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All you have to do is slide the tandem tires forward

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not that this isn't impressive. But I wish more docks had those painted lines. Makes lining up so much easier.

3 years ago | Likes 554 Dislikes 2

I moved white lines when I was younger

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They do, but usually just wear off, especially in places that have a long winter. Companies just don't repaint. Source: Worked in logistics

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sssooooo much easier!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

agreed once you're in the control of the rear, you're good. i do it often in snowrunner. still a good parking

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know where this was taken, but from what I've seen, Europe, Australia, Canada are all much more organized. The US is dystopian.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lasers!!

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Truck drivers should just use the lines in their backup camera, that's what I do when I back up my car.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You mean you don't like my iced up gravel lot in winter?

3 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 0

Iced up gravel is okay. Its the mudded up mud lots that make me weep for my floorboards.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I worked at a lumber mill and after it rained the semis had to drive thru like 2 feet of mud to move shit.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

With a slant

3 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Like 10' at most

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Have you delivered to our factory?

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You know I think we might be talking about different places.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

American Truck Simulator, but still an impressive parking job.

3 years ago | Likes 227 Dislikes 1

Way fancier than AutoTurn, which I can't get to work properly anyways

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know how many hours I've clicked up on american or European. I tried the 100% GPS achievement but it's insane.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Simulators are actually great way to learn how to manipulate the trailer. Turning radius can be surprisingly nifty.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Does that have a level where one needs to go and block international crossings? Asking for a Canadian friend.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Yes, and it's got cross platform support with Call of Duty, for even you get sick of the air horns

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuckin.. I didn't notice low detail tree or the marker on the ground, thought it was from security camera or whatever.

3 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

I thought it was from a shitty CCTV cam due to the flicker and blurry tree

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A security camera floating 1000' in the air?

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Lol good point

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Since we know that this is American Truck Simulator, would a trucker actually do something like this in real life?

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I do regularly, living in Ireland, delivering to grocery stores. Nothing like America, small tight roads and tight spaces.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not if he pays for the trailer tires.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Here's basically that clip in real life... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FXVBYoo_qg

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Maybe if they knew it was possible. But I think most would Get Out And Look.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If I could approach it from the opposite direction I'd just blindside it. It takes skill and patience but it's easier on equipment

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This particular scenario would be alot simpler if the truck just entered the other direction and blind side backed in but I've don similar 1

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maneuvers just not quite as extreme anglewise there's one place I pickup from on a 1 lane road that you have to come down the street 2

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Backwards for 2 blocks then swing over 90° so you almost end up facing traffic to get straight on the dock (end)

Only way trailer would detach is if major malfunction, if not for the cab, you could spin the trailer on the 5th wheel when locked easily.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Which tires would be damaged? The trailers tires seem fine. Maybe the back wheels of the tractor?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Usually one of the Trailer axles would side scrub a few tires hard when the rear pivots with no forward or reverse movement.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You sure? Halfway through the trailer tires would just be sliding and not rotating.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know if there are truckers here, but it's common to put the truck perpendicular to the trailer and pivot around the rear tires...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...that's the reason trucks are able to pivot more than 180 degrees around their hitch...you can turn sharply enough that the trailer...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...tired are spinning backwards while the truck is going forward...ill look for a visual.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a trucker this takes some major knowledge of your equipment along with top notch skill... maybe a little luck too

3 years ago | Likes 658 Dislikes 9

It's got flames on the front. Clearly this is a dedicated professional trucker

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is a simulator.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've been driving/yard jocky for 10 years now. I started doing these for fun.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I u-turned a full length truck in a space about ten feet longer than the trailer. Peaked.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah this dude knows his Shit. Id find an easier route in lol

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Watched a dude pull that move at a warehouse I used to work at. I swear he didn’t even stop the truck. Fucking legend.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I did not know how to do this, until I watched someone test and do a yard maneuver. After that, I tried it a couple of times, and Now its

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A lot easier. Look at where his back trailer wheels are. ( they are called "Tandems."

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a trucker, I have never had any issues doing this, even on blind side. Those b-trains tho, I'd have a superior bitch of a time.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Actually realized I misspoke. Its the A-trains with the pindle hitch to 5th wheel converter that really grinds my gears. sneaks out always.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Next time I take my car into the shop I'm gonna say this lol.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you have that much articulation on the front, can't you just park the rearmost wheels between the lines and rotate the trailer?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It depends on where the wheels are, in a reefer/dry van like this you can slide the tandems(wheels) back and forward. The further forward 1/

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The sharper the turn but the back of the trailer swings the opposite because it's past the pivot point so you have to watch that

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I was surprised when he puked forward to straighten out for the last bit. Clearly has the skill that he could've gone without doing that.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Had to pull forward, 10 points from Gryffindor!

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

For valiant look through the window and being brave and breathing, 15 points back to Gryffindor!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha, that is a terrible place to back for sure. I would have gotten out to look 20 times.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Absolutely. I tried it with a pick up and a similar sized trailer. Just couldn't get the alternate steering. Double thinking all the time

3 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 3

I don’t fight it, I put my hands on the bottom of the wheel, that way the just do what they are trained to do and my brain doesn’t pretzel

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's the skill part. It's a skill that requires practice.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think about Steering as much as imagining the back end pushing the trailer in the direction I want it to go.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah I do similar. Think about which way does the ball need to go. Also my wife thinks I can steer the trailer wheels somehow :D

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My hands adjust accordingly

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have a 52ft trailer for a pickup? Or similar in size to truck ratio? In many ways semis are easier to back than small trailers, it /1

3 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

My pops had 45 foot 5th wheel. Super easy to backup he lived in it for a while. Back room for quads or guests. Easy to work out of town too

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Size of pick up

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Takes longer to start turning in a semi but the long length makes it not start to wonder on ya

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Did you learn as you went along from delivery to delivery or put some practice in some with road cones etc?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I passed my written test then the company hiring me trained me in their yard for 2 weeks. I got to where I could back figure 8's both ways

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Exactly I look like a total nube backing my little utility trailer but can do semi trucks no problem ?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, same with me, except with a boat

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Legit question; that is super impressive but wouldn't that tight a curve damage tires/ball bearings intensively?

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The wheel hubs are built very strong because of the weights involved, as slow as he's going those are fine. Tires? No choice. Get it done.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well it’s a video game so probably not

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

tires would scrub a little sideways on trailer at halfway point, if empty not much problem, if heavy could pop a low pressure tire off rim

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not really, the wheels are still turning not sliding.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Some mild scrubbing for the tires just by virtue of being duallys. But it's probably only a couple rotations of the tires for this maneuver.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It won't really damage anything just because of the heavy duty build of it all but tires will definitely take extra wear. This trailer /1

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Only has 2 axels the trailers I'm running have 3 sometimes a 4th so they get very heavy wear on tight turns like this

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1
