Only way trailer would detach is if major malfunction, if not for the cab, you could spin the trailer on the 5th wheel when locked easily.

Usually one of the Trailer axles would side scrub a few tires hard when the rear pivots with no forward or reverse movement.

I don't know if there are truckers here, but it's common to put the truck perpendicular to the trailer and pivot around the rear tires...

...that's the reason trucks are able to pivot more than 180 degrees around their hitch...you can turn sharply enough that the trailer...

It depends on where the wheels are, in a reefer/dry van like this you can slide the tandems(wheels) back and forward. The further forward 1/

The sharper the turn but the back of the trailer swings the opposite because it's past the pivot point so you have to watch that

My pops had 45 foot 5th wheel. Super easy to backup he lived in it for a while. Back room for quads or guests. Easy to work out of town too

The wheel hubs are built very strong because of the weights involved, as slow as he's going those are fine. Tires? No choice. Get it done.

Some mild scrubbing for the tires just by virtue of being duallys. But it's probably only a couple rotations of the tires for this maneuver.

Only has 2 axels the trailers I'm running have 3 sometimes a 4th so they get very heavy wear on tight turns like this
