“This is something that nobody else can do,” Trump said during a reception with members of Congress Tuesday night. “We’re gonna get the drug prices down. Not 30 or 40 percent, which would be great, not 50 or 60, no. We’re gonna get ’em down 1,000 percent, 600 percent, 500 percent, 1,500 percent.”

He bragged that he could use a “certain talent” to reach “numbers not even thought to be achievable.” If anything, the president’s certain talent is to offer hyperbole in place of actual policy.

Trump’s phony math didn’t stop there. “We will have reduced drug prices by 1,000 percent, by 1,100, 1,200, 1,300, 1,400, 700, 600; not 30 or 40 or 50 percent but numbers the likes of which you’ve never even dreamed of before,” he added later.

--------------------------

I'm no rocket scientist, but I'm pretty sure if you reduce the price of something more than 100%, they will be paying YOU to take their product.

He doesn't know waht "percentage" means...

We're in the post-truth era. Facts and statistics have been irrelevant the moment he came down that elevator and spewed nonsense.

So it's INCONCEIVABLE you might say.

Also, I now have a headache. Every time I hear him speak, it just hurts my head. Whether the subject matter, his voice or simply his incoherent rambling. We are all now dumber for having listened to him talk.

he’s breathtakingly stupid

Honestly, if he wasn't in the position of influence and power that he is, it'd be endlessly entertaining to just sit back and watch him go!

"If I just keep saying numbers, maybe they'll forget about the Epstein files..."

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He just keep saying random shit and none of it means anything.

3 weeks ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Anything to distract from Epstein. here he's leaning into his image of being a bumbling fool.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah but he's talking to imbeciles, not to us.

Because there's never a consequence for him when he does. Why should he even waste effort on his lies if nobody's going to be mad at him?

You heard it! We'll get paid 10,000 bucks to take 1000 dollar medicine from the pharmacy! Woooo! /S

Epstein Epstein Epstein!!

I mean, if trump could get the pharmacy to pay me for the drugs that I constantly fight my insurance for; then he's still a pedofile.

I sometimes suspect that when he’s spitting out stupid shit like this, it’s some sort of publicly televised code for a select few to decipher and act upon. Like possibly numbers to direct his billionaire friends to move money around in the markets. I don’t know. Why else would someone say such idiotic things?

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Nah, I think he’s just dumb as hell, being surrounded by yes men and sycophants for decades will do that

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...because he's an idiot?

Hanlon's razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It just seems especially strange to say such ridiculous numbers in such an odd sequence. It has to mean something else. Right? RIGHT? I can’t be the only one thinking this.

I know it's more comforting to think that one of the most powerful people on the planet ISN'T a toddler, and his imbecilic behavior is because he's orchestrating some convoluted scheme that maybe we then COULD perhaps get ahead of, but… no, he's just legitimately THAT stupid.

He's making examples up out of thin air to make him sound like he can do the impossible, but he doesn't understand math (and ESPECIALLY doesn't understand percentages), so he defaults to "larger numbers = better numbers."

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't attribute malice that can be better explained by ignorance.

If, IF, *IF*...if it had some basis in reality the only possible scenario that makes sense is that he conflated percent reduction, with price (i.e.: Staffer tell him, "Biden reduced it 10 cents, we can reduce it $1.10, thats a 1000% decrease.).

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh, that's definitely what he's doing; he's pulling random high numbers out of thin air to make him sound like only HE can do the impossible, but he's then using them all wrong because he doesn't understand even basic math.

Pretty much. Def saw a ppt or cheatsheet with graphs with blown up captions of percentages in bold red numbers.
