My parents saw them live a few months ago and they were blown away. They didn’t know what to expect going in - it was at a winery or something - and they loved it. Bought the album and listened all the way home
If you're a fan of songs covered in different styles you should check out Hellsongs. They do mellow covers of rock and metal. Their cover of We're Not Gonna Take It is beautiful! https://youtu.be/dHTwW-rqRhs?si=8cEAjhZO5rIM8U7m
There are 3 particular PMJ guests which I fervently look out for. Cristina Gatti, Haley Reinhart, and Adanna Duru. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve seen by those three without exception.
I love PMJ. Saw them twice in concert, we were going to take our 6yr old grandson who just JAMS when he hears them, but he was sick that night so took my 84yr old mom. Turns out it was her 1st "concert" like that. She loved it, too.
Will always stop and listen to this cover. I grew up with the original - it's young, kinda boppy. "Work sucks, yeah kickass!" Innocence. Adult me listens to this song - and it's the vocal equivalent of sitting at a beat up dive bar, just before closing. Glass of whiskey, looking at yourself in the mirror by the well drinks. Work sucks. I know.
Something about that clown freaks me out and I had to block PMJ on youtube so it wouldn't show up in my recommendations anymore. I like some of their stuff, but I'd prefer to go the rest of my life without ever seeing that and so I'll just have to pass on them.
"I think so, Brain, but ... me and Pippi Longstocking? What would the children look like?" That line has cracked me up every time since the first time I heard it as a kid, ha ha ha ha.
Out of cartoon themes, Darkwing Duck is my absolute favorite. Of their collection of songs, Creep and Dream on are my absolute favorites. I mean the woman who sings Dream on probably has like 9 or 10 lungs.

I cannot stand this. Pmj is just awful. There is a reason. That type of music died out.

Amazing performance! Do the Weird Al version next!!!

It wasn't even a great song when BNL did it.

Postmodern Jukebox is almost always amazing, but best when they kinda deconstruct the song to make it more... period? This is a great one

Puddles Pity Party is the giant singing clown, for any wondering.

I love both Creep and Dream On and I 100% agree about the singer of the latter. She kills it!

Not BNL's best song, but I like the PMJ version.

Brian Wilson from the Gordon album is very good. As is What a Good Boy.

The apartment. Such a fun, uplifting song, until you listen to the lyrics

Their cover of Bruce Cockburn's Lovers in a Dangerous Time.

Ooh. I had forgotten about that version. It’s excellent.

I have a soft spot for Conventioneers and it's emotional roller coaster which is perfectly felt in Steven's interpretation.

This is a very good song but as a cover, I don't feel it's eligible as an answer.
randomwalrus
Fair, but I would say that since it is (arguably) better than the original version, it should count.
studog2010
Fair point. I agree that they did it better than the original.
