Orcus: Anti-Pluto Dwarf Planet in the Outer Solar System
Oktay Yürük, Oktay74tn

In this video, we discuss Orcus, a dwarf planet in the outer solar system at 48 Astronomical Units from the sun. Orcus has a size of 917 kilometers and is a plutino. Plutinos are a group of trans-Neptunian objects with a 2:3 mean-motion resonance with Neptune. The orbital period of Orcus is 245 years. Its moon Vanth has a size of 475 kilometers and orbits Orcus every 10 days.

Mean-motion resonance?

Mean-motion orbital resonance means when two bodies have periods of revolution that are a simple integer ratio of each other., e.g. Pluto/Orcus to Neptune 2:3 .

This is why I've said "If Pluto is a planet, then our system has about 2,000 planets". I don't even want to think about the song we'd have to learn to remember them all for a quiz.

you guys have a song to learn the planets?

It would need to be a drinking game.

I had a prof in uni with the same accent and spoke just as fast. I learned very little and I think I have brain damage now

I know five languages but I'm not perfect in any of them :) . Sorry. With the 1 min time limit on Imgur you can write a script with only about nine sentences per clip.

That’s you?! I’m so sorry. I feel embarrassed. You’re doin great. I’m just projecting because I don’t understand science things

Can we please start normalizing including subtitles in videos? I'm not deaf but I have auditory dyslexia, which means I find it difficult to distinguish words, especially when spat without a decent metric. The first word I was able to catch, at 3rd try, was "48", and it was because it was written there. All before was a single, incomprehensible word...plus, deaf people do exist also and might appreciate having subtitles much more than my slight difficulty.

This. Very much this.

also this crappy pronunciation does make my problem even worse. I've tried hearing the first few seconds tens of times and all I can hear is "this is (not?) an estimate of Orcus of our solar system which is 48 astronomical units from the sun" and again, 90% of what I was able to catch was because it's written there

I agree that subtitles are needed, but don’t talk down on how non-english people are pronouncing. We are many people who learned english as a second language.

I know, I'm one of those who have english as a 2nd language. Probably not the pronunciation but the way of talking? I don't make videos in english, but if I did, I'd speak slow with attention to clarity. I usually find it easier to understand non-english people speaking english because they pronunce the words with clarity. This one just eats words and lots of punctation. I'm not joking if I say I LITERALLY still can't understand what he's saying in the first seconds, and something else mid-video
