The very specific spec riser has arrived from overseas.

Not a fan of the orientation it puts the PCIe switch in, but it's workable.
And it doesn't change the Pi's location all that much. The m.2 HAT is behind the Pi, rather than "wearing" it.

Update on the dead Pi: The RMA was approved and they're sending me a new Pi

Those weird risers are a godsend, for my server-in-a-laptop i needed an nvme riser cable, of course it existed. China delivers (quite literally)
