My PiNAS project part 45, external SAS port for server section

Getting so close to completing this build. Received the Mini-SAS HD internal to external port adapter today.
When I made the order, the pictures showed the PCB contacts as bare and accessible, this intrigued me because I saw an opportunity to shorten the cable for my needs.
Welp... there must have been a revision, because now the PCB contacts are encased in a epoxy or potting compound. I may be able to cut it away but I don't want to damage the PCB and it's very stuck on there.

Placement testing. That open Mini-SAS HD port on the HBA is where it needs to plug in. This is going to be interesting...
