I've got one play-through going way past the plot into 'overtime.' My current mission is to build enough missile turrets in every settlement to completely obliterate marauders so I never have to respond to another settlement attack.

I just capture and take a ton of deathclaws. Just make sure you have a few beta wave emitters and/generators so if one go down they don't go hostile
