Diagnosed borderline personality disorder, been in therapy for 8 years, on meds, just had iron infusion where doc took an hour and 3 stabs to find and stick my vein. Every time I think of my brain being messy, I think of that pasta/noodle meme where you dry the wets and wet the dries and then dust the wets but the dusting stops too soon and it’s like “please, my wets. dust my wets” but in my case it’s “please, my brain. Dust my brain”.
I suppose my brain is still my wet noodle.

Self soothing is a great thing to be able to do. Its actually encouraged as a parent to allow your child to do. Keep up the good work!!

Brains are weird. Glad to hear you have support. Unfortunately I cannot dust your wet noodle lol

Many of us have wet noodles that we need dusted, no shame in that.

I shake my legs so often my calves are disproportionately muscular.

I tend to start rocking before panic attacks. I didn't realize til my mom pointed out she knew I needed help because of it.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ooh @op I have bpd too, I also rock to self soothe. I don’t even realise when I’m doing it. Sometimes I sway when standing too. Big hugs xx

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't half-ass it and rock, full-ass it and metal!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That’s actually not a bad idea!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Despite the innocence of the analogy, "dust my brain" has...relevant interpretations. Well, good luck, and stay well!

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I would dust your noodle but alas, mine too is in dire need.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I too have BPD. I was in an abusive relationship a few years ago and used to rock myself to sleep every night. Rocking helps.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I left my abuser and no longer need to rock myself to sleep and I'm healing. I'm sorry your brain feels like mush. BPD sucks. Sending love

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Thank you. I used to feel so alien until I finally accepted it isn’t going away, and reached out to some bpd online communities. I didn’t-

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Realise how isolated I’d forced myself by trying to make it go away & pretend it isn’t there. I’m way more textbook bpd than I realised lol

What’s wrong with rocking? Mother’s do it to babies. People like porch swings & rocking chairs. Maybe it’s an innate comfort mechanism

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I tell EVERY medical person looking for a vein “you get two stabs, no fishing, then you call in someone else” Some will just keep tourtuing

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I hear you loud and clear. Cold soothes me, so I thank winter. Remember to thank yourself for dusting.

The autistic community would like you to know you’re so fine, rocking is the best <3

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

*hugs* you're not alone..rocking is very soothing and its better than what alternatives there are to calm yourself

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i usually rock when i'm in pain. so did my mother.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Its ok. Many people rock themselves. I'm one of them. I have autism. I rock myself for comfort and I flap to relieve tention. Sometimes both

Not that there’s anything wrong with using pharmaceuticals.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

If you can't make your own neurotransmitters, store-bought are fine ?

A lot of autistic women are misdiagnosed as borderline at first....

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I stim too. Often I do it by flapping my pantlegs (i wear really loose pants) to just feel the fabric flopping. Bipolar here.

Never feel bad about making yourself feel better! Rock on my neurodivergant friends

As for the brain: i have a garden. With a huge big tower in the middle. All flowers are organized and ok to see. But it has a weed issue

3 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

cause I suck being a gardner. So I have help keeping weed at a minimum. If the help isnt there, there will be problems. Cause the weed will

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

destroy the garden en tower foundation. And that tower cant break, if it does, its the end of the garden. The help really wants to get rid

3 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

of that tower, and fix that what is in it. But I dont want that. Dont touch the tower and keep weed at bay.

Lots of people fap to relieve tension.

That meme always made me so sad. Like, unbelievably sad. Like, he cries for help but no one understands him.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Coping with shit comes in many forms. Crying, shaking, laughing, screaming... funny that we learn these all early on but at some point some

I have a hammock chair that works wonders for calming, as I too, rock for comfort. 10/10 recommend hammock chair.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I need hammock. Might get myself one for Christmas

There are worse ways to self soothe

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OP, as long as you know a good way to sooth yourself, that's good. even if it seems a little childish or odd, rocking isn't bad. I either 1/

I unknowingly do a little dance when I'm about to dig into some yummy food I've been looking forward to.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I caught myself doing that recently; hadn't realised before then and I don't know how long I've been doing it ?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do that too! Always have, and just about at any meal (except breakfast no.1). I love food so much it's probably really a romance.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OK... this is crazy, but my daughter did this as an infant. She also had a compulsion to eat crayons. We discovered that she had a

magnesium "deficiency" and once we started giving her calcium/magnesium supplement, she stopped, like within a day. Try taking a standard

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

over the counter multivitamin and see if it helps.
