this is the power cord to a rechargeable battery charger and the connection between the plug and the cord is shot. i bought a replacement cord but the connection on the replacement also looks flimsy. i will try to be gentle but i think there must be some way to strengthen connection?
i saw some kind of silicone putty (sugru?) might help. does wrapping electrical tape work?

You have some bare wires showing. Unless they're part of the shielding, they need to be fixed. My old weedeater had the same problem. I managed to pry open the case, strip, solder, and reconnect the wires with heat shrink tubing over each joint.

Buy a different brand of charger with a stronger cord.

12V, 2A .... Maybe center positive? I'm sure you can buy a new and better one for cheap or find a similar one in your adapter drawer.

(Not an electrician). Maybe some heat-shrink wire wrap?

Tape will likely eventually fail and fall off leaving a residue behind. Heat shrink would be my suggestion but that might depend on if the end is bent at a 90 degree or is very large so it would be hard to find an appropriate sized heat shrink. You could always buy a "better" power supply but that can be hard since a lot of items like this on Amazon are pure junk.

Go to the hardware store and pick up a tube of “Shoe Goo”. Coat the connection where it has failed and let dry, or coat that area on a new one. I’ve gotten years more service out of failed connections like this using shoe goo.

Take the spring out of a pen and wrap it around the wire to make an additional strain relief
