No self respecting programmer would wear those sunglasses.

Fake! Not nearly enough swearing.

I see your mistake: you have to use dark mode.

I mean just googling the error text works half the time.

Please check out "Casey Joint" it's a game by Yahtzee Crowshaw and it's basically "Hacking by smashing keyboard buttons" so much fun!

if someone used that loud ass click clack keyboard next to me, i'd bitchslap them out of existence

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

what is the song at the start?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Idk how people can type on color changing keyboards.. the color shift is too distracting for me. Pretty, but pulls my focus.

I despise lights of all kinds. I have blu tack over every power LED.

Needs more copy and pasting from stackoverflow.

If Stack Overflow was a thing when I was in college, I would've be a computer engineer, but fuck free compilers. Garbage, FUCKING SHIT!!!!!

I’ve got a 10x-er in my team. He makes me feel like shit everyday. Luckily he’s an awesome dude.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Rare breed. I’ve yet to meet a 10x/rockstar/ninja that wasn’t an absolute ass or had some other defect that made the team quit over time.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Agreed. He's a genuinely decent person and doesn't ever rub his ability into our faces. Always has time for us mortals. He's a rare breed.

If you do not find the solution by page 2 of Stack Overflow...it does not exist

5 years ago | Likes 700 Dislikes 2

It's the same with Stack Exchange.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or you made such a basic mistake that no one else has ever had the problem.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lately, I had a few cases, when I found solutions on some Chinese forums, where only the code snippets were readable.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

GREEN TICK!!!!!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh stack overflow, every Dev’s best friend

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Master, what if someone deleted it from the archive memory?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You find someone asking the exact issue you have. The only answer is from the same person saying they figured it out, without further detail

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

all the damn time, then hit the same post from a different link, so infuriating

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a page 2 ?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is truth

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then you post it as a new question and let every passive aggressive programmer run a train on you

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nobody ever asks questions on Stack Overflow. They just get there through googling a question. It is such a mysterious place

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Which means you gotta come up with it! Or you're not asking the right question.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Whose revolution?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definetly asking the wrong question. Whenever I can not find a similar issue on Page 1 I need to take a step back

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Generally not asking the right question. Or for non-English natives, not asking the correct way.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or it's phrased slightly differently.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sometimes... You got to believe!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But it's never the first answer either

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

It's usually the second answer that begins with "[first answer] is bad and the real way to do it after update X is [code to copypaste]"

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

In my experience the 2nd answer is usually way more verbose and helps you understand the actual issue

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Speaking of verbose, it reminded me of the branch prediction question with the amazing (and verbose) first answer.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Link?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... or you're not imaginative enough on alternative ways to reach your goal.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah yes the fabled ‘I programmed my way into this problem, I’m gonna damm well program my way out of it’ skill

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

..OR, you're really, painfully terrible at searching how to do a hello world script and should just give up and be a stripper like your mom.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I... I... I cannot call an API from within an Azure Action. It's C# Script. I'm accepting strip requests

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hope you brought some elastics because that's the only way you're getting paid to strip. :)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

Hahahaha that is brilliant

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Well shit

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then there are all the people who do the second screen, but with the first keyboard...

5 years ago | Likes 282 Dislikes 1

Can confirm. Corsair computer, drowning in c#,c++,java, asam, and python. I dislike it. Am not going into coding.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As long as you got those silent reds for the office.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you don't use DVORAK are you even a real programmer?/s

5 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

I am not a programmer but isn't Dvorak for writing more efficiently? But coding are not normal words..

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But Dvorak is literally awful for coding. It's meant to be better for normal text. Terrible conflicts for keys that are often used in code.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Was going to teach my son DVORAK but realized it'll make it hard on him everywhere he has to use a normal keyboard. Gonna teach QWERTY first

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's like the metric system. It's better but kid's gotta learn our 'MURICA units first.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why would I use DVORAK when I can use COLEMAK?

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

The copy paste struggle is real if you use dvorak and still somehow use a mouse.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't you insult my keyboard. It's pretty.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Depends how close the screens are and what do you use them for...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It feels like I'm always looking for a better keyboard. I recently had a mechanical one that the e started working 80% of the time.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you break this there's no hope. My 5 year old got "Tecware Phantom 87 Key Mechanical Keyboard" 6 months ago, still working. $45

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not cheap, but my only complaint with this one is it doesn't have more customization: https://fujitsuscannerstore.com/cg01000-294301/

As a programmer I do want to say: who the fuck uses light mode?

5 years ago | Likes 418 Dislikes 6

The blind one.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I use to. I don't anymore. Coding is hard enough on you.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I prefer whatever everything defaults to because I’m too lazy to change it

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Me. I find in a well light room it actually helps with eye strain

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Savages

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do, most of the dark modes available look stupid.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do. Dark mode strains my eyes.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The last time I used Eclipse, its dark mode was utter crap. Maybe it's been improved by now; I've been staying away from that shit.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You have kicked a hornet's nest fren. I have everything on solarized light AND have flux make my screen yellow AND have blue filter glasses.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm real fun at parties. ?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have mine in red light only!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only during the day, unless I wanna punish myself after hours

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Would be cool as a prank.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My Eyes it burns.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh laws, that's horrible

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I tried em all on msdos. White/red is actually easy on the eyes, filters out all blue. Blue/red however is eyeball death!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do. Dark mode always seems so much harsher.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Funny, I would have given the same reason for the inverse. I put everything I can into "darkmode", I just find it less intense on the eyes.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Don't think I've ever heard darkness described as harsher than light. Is it like a deafening silence or something else entirely?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me, it's just harder to recognize white letters on black background. Especially if the 'dark mode' is done poorly. Imgur does it nicely)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

[1] Personal impression is that there is a much sharper transition between letters and background. Dark mode works well on my phone...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... with brightness turned all the way down, but that approach doesn't really work on my desktop monitor.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dark mode is for wannabes programmers, who want to look like hackers in the first scene.Pros use properly lit work environment and lightmode

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

it's also for people with eye problems, or who use multiple screens and don't like to feel like they're in a tanning booth.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I have two 100 watt light bulbs in my room to compensate for lack of sunlight. And light mode is much better at this lightning.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I use ~150w equivalent LED bulbs and have 5000K stage lights for video... My LCDs can still cast shadows on my desk with white images.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmm, I guess it depends on the monitor. I've never had such thing. And it always feels like there is not enough light.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Darkmode saves my eyes

Programmers who get shit done.

5 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 6

Programmers who get shit done config their IDE/environment once a year and back it up so that they don't have to waste time with it later.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1/ One of my colleagues is a one-man team all by himself and he builds an entire country-level governmental web platform with... notepad++.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3/ He's 57, still eager to learn and to teach. His IDE (eh) is white and I don't think he has change settings for 5 years, indeed :D.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/ He's a really good two fingers touch typist and he does speak 10 words of English.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I get shit done, and I prefer not needing glasses, thank you very much.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

Many ppl don't have a problem with white screens, so this point is moot for them.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Many people don't have a problem yet*. This point goes for anyone whether they are aware of the facts or not.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What facts ? Every article I read about light vs dark mode was a toss up. Sometimes dark mode is better sometimes light mode is better.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do. It's so much more relaxing than white over black

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

How? The dark relaxes me a lot more. Just seeing the light makes me whince of the thought of looking at that screen.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How about not setting your display's brightness to retina-burning, and having some ambient lighting to reduce eye strain?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I do both and still prefer dark mode over light mode.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even the lowest brightness on every LCD i've had is enough to illuminate an entire room to the point where I can read a paper printout.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use 5000K, 120w equivalent bulbs for lighting in my office, and my screens can STILL cast shadows on my desk with a white background.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do, 50% of the time. Also, I don't think Eclipse has night mode.

5 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 2

It might not have one I suppose. It's just that I haven't seen such a white IDE since I last used Eclipse, which is about 6 years ago now.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

My bad, probably it's not Eclipse.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got eclipse in dark mode. Had to install it from the eclipse shop but it works pretty well

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Why? There's one built in.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who uses Eclipse?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

They made us in uni.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Anyone who's writing for a Xilinx board. Their SDK is Eclipse with a bunch of plugins.
