Quick explanation of how to make a geometric surface pattern in Fusion 360

People seemed confused how to make this pattern. The anwser is to use Surfaces, a powerful but not well explained workspace! This Object took me about 5 minutes to make.

This photo shows how I did it. You make two N-gons. Less sides means more variation in the stucture, More means a more subtle pattern. I used 20 sides for my polygon. I extruded it up, and then copied it up, and rotated it an amount I chose. It doesn't matter exactly what you choose. Play with it a bit. Once you do that, you need to use the 3D sketch tool to draw a complete tesselation of the pattern as shown. At that point, you can use the patch surface tool to create the complete pattern. Then you can use the circular pattern tool to create the entire outside. Patch the top and bottom, and then copy and paste it one above the other in a way that completes it. Combine the bodies, and then shell them. I am happy to anwser any questions below, and apologize that I can't explain more, I have finals to study for. Good luck!
